Exercise?
I hope everyone is doing well today. I'm still having HUGE belly issues. I was wondering if exercising can make it bad? I exercise on an eliptical, I used to be an avid runner but had to give that up due to weakness. I don't think that it's the cardio though. I also lift weights. Can lifting weights make LC worse?
In general, most of us find that exercise helps us to relax, which is always a plus with this disease. The main thing is to pace yourself, so that you don't overdo it, because the body uses the lion's share of your available energy just to fight the inflammation that is associated with MC.
The only additional issue that you may need to watch with lifting weights is the possibility of making a hemorrhoid problem worse. MC can definitely cause inflamed 'roids, so we definitely wouldn't want to make them worse.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
That was a concern of mine as well. As I posted before, I have a hemmeroid that protrudes. Only it seems to do it when my belly is distended. When I lift, it actually seems to go away. I try not to strain too much. I'm desperately trying not to let this disease take everything away from me! It's already taken so much from my life. Thanks for the advice Tex. Wow, earlier today was a horrible belly day. Massive amounts of watery D with undigested food.
Hi, I have been fighting the big belly issue for years. Thousands of situps flat on an inclined board and it did tighten up the muscles but still had the inflammation in the intestines that make the abs section bigger. Has you doctor given you a CPK blood test because of your muscle weakness? I have the same weakness and it is definitely linked to MC. Jon
IMO, exercise is the best thing for you, for any ailment! I use my treadmill big belly and all I also do a workout with light weights.
I'm considering buying an elliptical as well to mix up the cardio.... kick boxing is great for stress too!
