Howdy, Tex!
Evening Tex!
Sounds as if you are coming along quite nicely, which is wonderful news. Did you get that bath in today? What have you been eating? I hope you have a ready supply of safe foods on hand. Glad to hear you're paying attention to your body. Whenever you feel sleepy, just take a little catnap - you may be doing just that! Is the ostomy care becoming any easier? Are you able to call the ostomy nurse for any questions? Are you sleeping well?
Keep up the good work, okay?
Pleasant dreams! :boobs:
Love,
Polly

Howdy and good morning, Wayne
It sounds like you are recovering well from your surgery, Wayne. How much pain medication to take is probably highly individual - I think listening to your body and taking clues from it is a good idea. Exercising if by that you mean walking in your yard sounds like a wonderful way to keep the body moving and getting a little vitamin D from the sun light. Eating and resting after the walk should help you heal, right! That's the theory anyway.
I remember after my c-sections (only surgery experience I have) I stopped taking pain med as soon as I got home from the hospital. I just didn't care not to feel what was going on with my body. In the hospital they gave me a pain killer which made me extremely groggy/sleepy; I couldn't take care of my baby while being so groggy. It took me a little while to figure out that it was the tablets that made me so pooped out but after I made the connection I refused to take the stuff. They seemed to give me another groggy pill every time I began to come back to life LOL!! I think they liked me much better while groggy and not demanding - can you imagine?!
Love,
Karen

Morning, Polly and Karen,
I missed this last night, because I retired early to take that bath. The bath was great--I can stand to be around myself again, now. A shave helped too. I was gettin' a little shaggy, since I hadn't felt like shaving for a while. I just didn't have enough energy to do anything that wasn't absolutely essential.
The only fly in the ointment, is that after the pain pills wore off during the night, the soreness caused by the extra activity kept me awake much of the night, so I decided to take another pill this morning, to let things settle down, again.
Otherwise, things are going great, and I'm slowly getting stronger, and able to do much more, every day. I've been eating pretty decent meals, and my digestion seems to be working fine. I'm now able to eat full, normal servings, rather than "bird" size portions, and my somewhat truncated colon, seems to already be doing a good job of moisture removal, and stool formation.
For breakfast, I usually eat a couple of poached eggs, and sausage, or bacon, (without dextrose). At noon I eat a full meal, with either chicken, or pork sausage, and baked or mashed potatoes, with something like green beans, broccoli, or squash, for a vegetable. I don't normally eat much for supper, though sometimes I will snack a little, if I feel so inclined. I may try snacking on a frozen banana, later today, for example.
Karen, you're right about the pain pills. They make it difficult to think clearly, so it becomes more difficult to blame your problems on them. LOL.
I'm slowly gettin' there.
Love,
Wayne

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Well, I'm back to using them again, at least for a while. Now that I jostled my innards around a bit, they keep demanding something to ease the pain. Sigh. Of course, this means I won't be able to operate any heavy equipment for a while. LOL.

Wayne,
This is great news that your up and about and eating as well as you are! Your making wonderful progress considering it's just been a week today since the operation.
Keep taking those pain meds if you need them.
Mars, I don't think he can do too much damage on a tractor in the middle of a cornfield! HA

Morning Wayne,
So glad to hear that the bath & shave were in the picture for you. Can make you feel like a whole new person. Also, your diet has had major improvement and it is good to hear that you can now get some good healthy food in you.
Take it easy and that is an order. Pain meds I hate but sometimes they are a necessity.
Love, Maggie
