same diet for Crohn's ?

Post by Leah »

A friend of my sister's just got dx with Crohn's. Would the elimination diet and basic anti-inflammatory diet we do also help her?

Hi Leah,

The answer is, "Yes", and the EnteroLab tests should be helpful if she is reluctant to try the diet without lab evidence (assuming that she doesn't have selective IgA deficiency).

Please read NJ's posts in the threads at the links below. Nathan has UC (not Crohn's), but the treatment should work just as well.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thank you Tex. I"m glad that it all falls under the same umbrella. That way, I can help a lot more people with their issues. I'm sure people who complain of "IBS" would do much better with this approach also. I just got my nutrition info on the web site of the studio I work in. If anyone is interested in taking a peek, it's rockawayfitnessacademy.com :)

Hi Leah,

Is Brattleboro VT too far for you to come? I could use a personal trainer, especially one who understands food issues. I am sure you will be able to help a lot of people who are given bad nutritional advice of the high fiber whole grain variety.

Leah,

I believe that you've hit upon a unique combination of talents that may well open the door to exercise and better health for many who have been afraid or unmotivated to exercise because of their digestive system issues. IMO this idea has a great potential for franchising, once you establish a track record. This country is loaded with people who have compromised digestive systems.

Best of luck as you become established in this new direction.
