Send advice and comfort. job loss ready to go to the ER
Last post was about an unfortunate accident missing the bathroom. I have resumed Endocort and Imodium. I have used the bathroom 9 times today and now have horrible bloody hemorrhoides . My husband will be losing his job due to poor performance in two months if not sooner. I cry and cry and cry. I am doing everything I can to try to help myself. No foods are staying in my stomach. Drinking as much fluids as I can stomach .Maybe this is all just a bad dream
Oh Camie,
What a rough time for you. A major flare along with huge stress. It sucks big time. Be sure to drink fluids that are replacing the electrolytes you are losing from vomiting and diarrhea. And don't hesitate to go to the E.R. for fluids if you think you need them, especially with hot weather now here. I wish I had that old magic wand to make it all go away for you. Have you limited your diet to just a few foods that you know are absolutely safe? The only other advice I can think of is to try as much as possible to put those scary thoughts out of your mind. Worrying about the future (especially those worst case scenarios) makes the MC so much worse, at least for me it does.
Am thinking of you and sending positive and healing thoughts. Here is a big hug for you:

Hi Camie,
I am so sorry you are dealing with this. The chronic stress and worry will definitely act as an irritant and keep you from doing better. You are already taking the Entocort and Imodium. Consider adding time for meditation or Dr. Weil's breathing exercises. There is one he describes as being "a tranquilizer for your nervous system". It's a long breath in to a count of 4 through your nose, hold the breath for a count of 7, then (while placing the tip of your tongue right behind your front teeth) blow it out to a count of 8. I've done it many times and I do find it helpful. His other tip for times when we might have trouble falling asleep is simply to listen to and count your own breaths. It works. When your mind is focused on something simple like listening to your own breathing it isn't thinking about something else. I'll try to find the correct link to his website and I'll post it for you.
And as Polly said, drop back to the simplest, safest diet you can. Chicken broth was and still is my 'go to' drink when my gut it acting up. Do be sure to replace your electrolytes. I take a gummy multi-vitamin and gummy calcium that sits well (of course is GF, SF, DF, etc) and helps give me more nutrition. I also found I craved salty things and could tolerate Lays Natural Reduced Fat potato chips. In my stores they are in the health food/natural foods section.
I hope that your husband is able to find another job quickly and that reduces some of your stress at home. My heart goes out to both of you. Sometimes having a heart-to-heart talk and making/agreeing on a plan of what you will do next will reduce some of the tension and worry. Where is he likely to get hired, does he need more training to make him more marketable or diverse?--- these are some of things worth discussing when you make your plan together. Sometimes it's hard to get guys to sit down for that kind of talk, but if we say "I need for us to have a plan so I can work on getting my health back on track" we are more likely to be heard.
Hugs to you Camie. These are all the ideas I have off the top of my head. Keep in mind you are dealing with a lot of losses with loss of income and loss health being at the top of the list of losses that hit us the hardest. Please cut yourself some slack and be kind to yourself (just like you would be to a friend who was ill).

I totally agree. Chronic stress is (IMO) the primary driving force behind MC. Fear of the unknown seems to be the most damaging cause of chronic stress. We tend to fear what we do not understand, and we fear not being in control of our destiny. Having a plan (even if it is just a simple plan, with few details) can suppress the worst of our fears, because it allows us to recognize that we do indeed have some control over our destiny.Carol wrote:Sometimes having a heart-to-heart talk and making/agreeing on a plan of what you will do next will reduce some of the tension and worry.

Hi Camie,
I'm sorry for the stress you're under, and the flare it's causing. You should maybe try to step back and deal with your own health first, and let your husband deal with other things for a while. Then when you're feeling better, you can decide what to do.
I totally agree with Carol about making a plan. When I am feeling out of control (I call it the hamster wheel--just going around and around, worrying and stewing, often at 3AM), I just make myself stop everything and sit down and get still. Since I think best when I can see what I say (the former English teacher in me) I often sit with pen and paper nearby, so I can jot things down as they occur to me, make lists, etc. Instead of focusing on the huge picture, I try force myself to break things down and figure out what is in my control, and I start there, prioritizing and attacking things step by step. It really helps. Tackling the little things can help to restore the sense of control for the big things. I try to stay focused on the present, and let the future take care of itself, at least temporarily.
And, I force myself to sleep, even if meds are needed, because lack of sleep makes everything worse.
I don't want to sound like Pollyanna here, but in my life, in some situations, just when things have seemed at their worst and all doors seem closed to me, another door unexpectedly opens, and things improve. Maybe not all at once, but to a degree that you can see the way out of a problem. So I think, when you're feeling better, maintaining a sense of possibility is also important.
I hope you are able to start feeling better soon. Take care of yourself.

You've gotten some very good advice, Camie. Trying not to worry is easier said than done but necessary when you have MC. I can't add anything to all of the good advice but can send you a big hug and prayers for relief from D and a job for your husband.

Dear Camie,
Sending lots of healing thoughts and prayers to you and your husband. Please remember to be kind to yourself as you weather this storm, and have faith that things will turn around in time.
Love,
Kari

I am so sorry
Things do have a way of working themselves out, of course it's easier for me to say since I am not in your predicament. But that is something I always tell myself "things will work out" and they always have, sometimes later than I hoped for.
I have no advice as to what foods to eat since I don't even know myself what to eat but the Entocort has helped my D and cramping... it took a while but I am better. Stress is just awful. I hope things get better real soon.

Morning Cami,
My thoughts and prayers are with both of you and agree with all that the most basic diet can be a healing one. Big hugs to you and you can't change the future so try thinking positive thoughts. I know, easy to say.
Love, Maggie

Cami,
I'm so sorry you and hubby are going through so much stress. I hope DH can find a job soon; he should be eligible for unemployment, which will help some. Try to eat soothing food like soup and follow some of the relaxation techniques mentioned here.
Good luck!
