thyroid question

Post by Julie »

Hi everybody,

I have a few questions. I could have hypopituitarism. It means that I am not producing enough hormones (it could be 1 hormone, or more). I had to do an MRI and bloodtests, and my hormones were normal, but really on the edge of low - normal.

It seems to me that a lot of people here have problems with the thyroid hormones...

Is it common for people with MC to have thyroid issues? And if so, why?

What are the symptoms you are experiencing?

Thx

Julie

Julie,

We are approximately 7 times as likely as someone in the general population to have a thyroid problem, because of our MC. The reason is because MC (especially if the symptoms are not controlled) can affect almost any organ in the body, and it also tends to cause the development of additional autoimmune diseases, and autoimmune thyroid disease is a very common autoimmune disease.

Marlins, that is a great site! I see a new doc on Wednesday in hopes of getting some help despite my always normal blood tests.

Hi everybody,

Thank you sooooooooo much! This explains a lot. Apparently, I have problems with my hormones. We will see which ones... I hope that it isn't serious.

Thank you!
