Barb, at my lowest point I weighed 123. I lost 25 pounds in about 10 weeks. What I really lost was a lot of muscle. The day my BIG flare started I had just finished the Couch-to-5K training program for the 2nd time and was set to run 30 minutest. I also lifted weights 2-3 times a week, and I have for years. I am just now to the point I think I can start those things again, after 2 years. Not sure I care if I run another 5k, but I definitely miss the strength I used to have. I wear out much more quickly now.
Anyway the weight was falling off 2 to 3 pounds a week while I was just laying around. I hated that feeling of having no control. Some people think it would be great to just drop weight but they don't realize how awful it is to just be shriveling away. I was worried enough about how rapidly I was losing weight that I looked for ways to get calories--because not only was I getting weaker but it wasn't showing any signs of slowing down. Finally after I got on Entocort it started to slow then stopped. I plateaued for a long time, then in this last year I put 10 pounds back on. I saw weight gain as a sign I was able to absorb nutrients.
Gloria and wonderwoman are 2 people on this site that have struggled to keep their weight up, although there are many others. If you are in that position Barb you may want to reach out to them and get their suggestions. I'm glad that I was in good shape before this started. If I had been underweight when I started it would have wiped me out even more and I would probably not be this far along in recovery.

PS- I was hoping for a parasite or another reason too when I had my tests done. No such luck.

Barb, if you go to the 'search' section of this site (at the top of the page) you can search by author. If you type in their name where it asks for author, it will find posts by Gloria and Wonderwoman. Make sure you are using the search for this site, not the Google search.
After you find their posts, you can click on their name and private message them.
Barb, your other option would be to start a new topic on the board regarding keeping your weight up and I'm sure several people will chime in. It's a fairly common problem as you can imagine.

Barb, I did the chicken, rice and carrot thing. Did NOT get any better.
My Enterolab results came back - guess what? I was most sensitive to chicken and rice. So I started over. I went to lamb, beef and potatoes. Also coconut milk and oil. Then I started to add things.
Now I am not doing well at all and need to go back to lamb and potatoes. Maybe carrots too.

Barb, everyone is so different here, but what really worked for me was eliminating all grains and sugars. I still ate sweet potatoes and bananas along with poultry, pork and fish as well as cooked green veggies.
Hope you can work this out!

Lesley, Sounds like your testing was very accurate. I didn't show any problem with those foods, but I'm not getting any better. Lost 2 more pounds this week. Hope the new GI has better ideas. So far the trial meds he gave me are not making any difference either ;(Lesley wrote:Barb, I did the chicken, rice and carrot thing. Did NOT get any better.
