Article connecting gluten, toxoplasma and psych disorders
In case you wanted proof of the role of gluten (and casein) in schizophrenia, bi-polar, ADHD and other psychiatric disorders.

And here's an article connecting depression and mood disorders to infections and autoimmune diseases. No mention of gluten, of course.

Can anyone piece these together to determine the true underlying cause?

Hi Zizzle,
I forward the 1st link to my son to forward to his chemistry teacher. My son is a junior and his chemistry teacher is all over the gluten free diet. He said wheat belly scientific facts are true and about 60 days ago put his family on a gluten free diet(teenagers) to see if they feel better. He wanted me to meet him to discuss the diet for our colitis. Since I work a lot I have not had time. Today his teacher said this link is fascinating and if I want to discuss the scientific facts to call him. I have not had time to read the article in detail yet. Thank you for the link.

I randomly turned on the TV this afternoon and the show The Doctors was on. To my amazement, the whole show was about poor western diets, too much sugar and processed grains being THE CAUSE of depression in the country. My jaw almost dropped, especially since I usually find that show offensive. There is a full scale rejection of the peocessed western diet going on now. Yay!!!

Zizzle, On at somewhat different note, I thought you might be interested in this article about family members getting IBDs due to MAP. It brings up some intriguing thoughts about environmental and bacterial factors at play in IBD.

Edited: I should clarify that by family members they were talking about husband and wives, not necessarily family members that are blood relatives, but rather those living in the same house.

Zizzle,
Thanks for sharing. Since I am both a counselor and dietitian I have seen the positive effects of going GF (and other diet changes) on mood disorders. I have worked with a handful of people who have gotten off of their bipolar meds or antidepressants after changing their diet. They are amazed at how diet was affecting them.
