Constipated from total shoulder replacement and pain med
What to do? Citrucell? Prunes? Magnesium citrate? Other?
Also have sleep apnea
When I was discharged after abdominal surgery, I was prescribed ducosate calcium to counteract the pain meds. It's a stool softener, not a laxative. It's available OTC.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

After my late DH had a knee replacement and severe constipation for pain meds. His PT suggested the following cocktail: 2 T milk of magnesia and 1/4 C prune juice mixed together and lightly warmed in the microwave. Docusate didn't work at that point and neither did plain milk of magnesia. Tastes terrible but works.
