Statins And Muscle Development

Post by tex »

Hi All,

If you're still not convinced that statins negatively affect muscles and muscle development, please read this article:

Statin found to largely negate the fitness benefits of exercise
What seems clear from the research, is that statins have the ability to block some of the benefits exercise can bring. It’s yet another thing to add to the ever-lengthening list of potential unwanted effects of statins.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

My doctor prescribed the generic form of Lipitor for me last fall because my total cholesterol was about 215. I took it for a little over a month. Didn't really notice muscle problems, but stopped it anyway. In February, the total cholesterol was down to 184, but I had started Atkins right after Christmas. Since February I have been working out 4-5 times a week. We will see what my labs are when I return to the doctor in August.
