Enterolab is hoping to have smaller panels soon

Post by mcnomore »

I just spoke with Kathy at Enterolab and she said they are working on offering smaller panels (no new foods) sometime before the end of the year.

That's great news! The large panels can be costly and sometimes our food sensitivities change and we want to retake the panels.

Cory - Did you say our food sensitivities "change"?

Hi Paula,

Speaking from personal experience, I've noticed that foods I used to be okay with -now I am not. ie: broccoli I used to be able to eat and now I don't fare well on it. Have you had any such experiences? That's the reason I'd like to be able to afford a panels test every so often.

Hi Cory,

Broccoli is not a source of protein, therefore it can't normally cause our immune system to produce antibodies.

Because it's not a protein source, EnteroLab would not be able to test for it. Broccoli can however, irritate the gut, if we already have inflammation (but something else is causing the initial inflammation).

Thanks Tex,
I need to go on the EnteroLab site and brush up on the protein sources they test for. I don't eat broccoli anymore. I'm doing pretty well these days. I made it through vacation and am still on a roll. My daughter says I've become a pretty good GF cook and she's right. I've re-discovered my love of cooking. Every weekend, I try a new recipe and make enough for a weeks worth of work lunches. Shopping at the Co-op and the Farmer's Market is fun now and not so much a chore. Patience has been the key. Hope you are well yourself and staying out of the summer heat.
Best,
Cory

Cory,

IMO, you have the right idea. Attitude is everything. Looking at shopping for supplies and cooking as an enjoyable challenge, (rather than as just another chore), and viewing it as an opportunity to expand our diet, certainly helps to make life more enjoyable. And the more we enjoy life, the more likely we are to be able to handle stress well, so that it doesn't cause GI problems. It's a win-win strategy.

Thanks, I seem to be doing OK. I'm kinda like an old country dog, who lays in the shade under the front porch during the heat of the day, and only comes out to chase a car now and then. LOL. IOW, I tend to hang around an air conditioner during the hottest part of the day, unless there's a good reason to be out in the heat.

We're supposed to get a norther this weekend, that should knock a few degrees off the highs for a few days. I can't remember ever seeing a norther so close to July.
