Hot During The Night
I wake up too hot during the night, even in the winter. I was wondering if it is related to my Lymphocytic colitis.
I am hypothyroid, but levels have remained stable, and my DO re-tests me, on a regular basis.
I also have MS. Not sure if being too hot during the night is related to it.

Sydney, I'm guessing you are a woman. Could this also be menopausal, as in hot flashes? Has it been recent or has it gone on awhile? I'm through menopause but still occasionally have a hot flash. When I was peri-menopausal they were problematic and could occur anytime during the day or night-- and would even wake me up. They did not increase when I developed LC.
If it's not that then I would be suspicious of your thyroid like you are. I apologize that I don't know enough about MS to know if it's part of that of what you are experiencing.
Hopefully others with more experience will chime in here.

Hi, Carol.
Yes, you guessed right, I am female. No, the hot feeling is not menopause. I had a total abdominal hysterectomy in 2006, and I have been on the Vivelle Dot, since then.
And my DO tests my levels on a regular basis.
Thyroid levels are good on Armour.
I did have 1 hot flash, after the surgery, before I started estrogen replacement, and I know how it feels.
The way I am feeling, hot, is very different.
I don't get a "flash" of heat, I am just hot for hours. I can't sleep.
I am wondering if it is related to Rebif, because it started 4-5 months approx. after I started Rebif.
I was off of Rebif for a month, to see if it was contributing to my Lymphocytic colitis. I re-started last night, and I felt really hot in the early hours of the morning.
I am beginning to wonder if I am going to be able to tolerate a DMD.

Hi Sydney,
I think your suspicions are correct, your temperature problems are probably related to the Rebif. Have you by any chance previously read the threads at these links? They discuss this issue.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Well, Sydney, I'm clueless on the Rebif but it sounds like you were about to answer your own question. Glad Tex chimed in. I hope you get it sorted out. It sounds miserable and being sleep deprived won't help either your MS or your MC.
take care,
Carol

I believe, after reading the posts in the links, that Tex provided, it is the Rebif. I plan to finish two injections this week, and take the summer off.
You're right, it won't help my MS or my MC, to be sleep deprived.
Thanks so much.

No, I'm not on Rebif, and I really don't have an explanation. It has happened to me for as long as I remember - both before and after my hysterectomy and both before and after MC and my dietary changes. I had my thyroid levels tested a couple of times years ago with normal results. I just wake up sometimes and realize I am hot and, at times, perspiring - even on my scalp. It's happened for so long that I imagine I didn't think about it as abnormal until now. Does this happen to anyone else?
