Help interpret enterolab results?

Post by pianogirl »

I finally was able to interpret my enterolab results from 3 years ago. Can someone help me interpret them? I've been GF for 3 years now, but still having D. What other tests should I have done from enterolab?

Fecal Anti-gliadin IgA 413 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units)

Fecal Anti-tissue Transglutaminase IgA 123 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units)

Quantitative Microscopic Fecal Fat Score Less than 300 Units (Normal Range is less than 300 Units)

Fecal Anti-casein (cow’s milk) IgA 23 Units (Normal Range is less than 10 Units)

HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 1 0301

HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 2 0602

Serologic equivalent: HLA-DQ 3,1 (Subtype 7,6)

Acute/Chronic Colitis Stool Test

Hi Piano Girl,

That's a relatively high anti-gliadin result. Apparently you had been reacting to gluten for quite a while before you ordered the test. If you aren't already doing so, the test results show that you should be avoiding all dairy products, also.

If you aren't also avoiding soy (and all legumes) and eggs, it might be a good idea to either also cut them out of your diet for at least a couple of weeks or so to see if that helps, or else order a test to see if you're sensitive to them. And if avoiding gluten, dairy, soy, and eggs doesn't bring remission, then it would probably be a good idea to order test Panel C (for the other 11 antigenic foods), to see what else is causing problems.

Do you mind if I add your results to our list?

Absolutely. You can add the results to your list. Thanks for your suggestion. I'm horrible about being totally dairy free, but I haven't touched gluten in 3 years. I think I need to do panel C and/or redo the entire test. I'm curious to see how I test 3 years later.

Don't be surprised if you still show gluten (anti-gliadin) antibodies. Cross-contamination is so common that it takes almost super-human effort (and a lot of luck) to avoid getting at least trace amounts of gluten in our diet.

Thanks, I added your results to the lists:
