We should write a book on the "Stupid Things That Doctors Say." This explanation would probably top the list. It never ceases to surprise me how really stupid they are regarding this disease. We have been blessed with some of our family having good doctors. They are the minority.

I use to go to doctor's appointments, breathlessly hanging on to every word as if it was gospel. Now, when I go in, I'm surprised if I can contain the contempt I have for them.

Went to the doctor today, for a yearly EKG. All fine. I mentioned MC to him, and he got this glazed look. Then I also mentioned that I was peri/menopausal and that I took bio identicals hormones to help with the symptoms. His reply?

"Well you know, menopause is a natural thing. You really don't need them. Most women are just fine without them."

Doctors are idiots.

When I mentioned to my gynecologist doc that I had MC, his reply was...."Oh, good, so you just have a little colitis "....meaning the MICROSCOPIC part of the word! I didn't bother explaining. :(

I have also had people (who know others with UC) tell me of the wonders of have a section of my colon removed, wearing a bag for 6 months, then reattaching the colon...."it will get rid of the problem, and you'll be able to eat anything you want" :(

sigh,sigh,sigh......

I saw my GP on Monday and went through explaining the MC to him. He suggested that I visit his quacky colleague who could do a series of COLONICS for me. He said many UC patients have been healed through this guru's colonics!

I just glazed over, thinking that this guy doesn't understand my life has been a colonic for the past five months, especially with the colonoscopy prep and all.

What an idiot. I'm just using him to get bloodwork done, check my thyroid and vitamin d,b levels.

And I'm not looking forward to having my GI explain why my colonoscopy reports said "multiple biopsies" when the biopsy report said one biopsy and the PA told me they didn't note which part of the colon they used to take it. All so shoddy IMO. At least it picked up the MC.

oh Linda, I wanted to laugh at the idea of microscopically small colitis-- but it's just too sad on another level.
