Hey Marliss,
My Bombardiers have long been New England stock, probably came down from Canada, but that's just a guess. Perhaps the Kansas branch was once one of them too? :D we HAVE to be related!

Hi JeanIrene,

Thanks for chiming in. Do you find it's hard to keep weight on with Paleo? I suppose the nut butters compensate for a lot, but, I'm having a hard time keeping my weight up. I was naturally thin prior to losing the twenty pounds from D, and now struggling to keep my calories at 2000.

Thank you for any tips. I am glad to hear the diet has been so successful for you, and I appreciate your kind words of encouragement.

Nancy, I lost about ten pounds when I first got sick. Since then I have gained a couple of pounds back and have stabilized. I'm fairly comfortable where I am now. I try to make a conscious effort to eat meals on a regular basis and use liberal amounts of coconut and olive oil as well as grabbing some nuts or a spoonful of nut butter when I think of it. It seemed easier to gain weight once my gut started feeling better.

Ha! I remember a few years back thinking about how great it would be to work to gain weight instead of losing it. Always something!

Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Nancy, we are definitely related back there somewhere. My husband's family emigrated from France to Canada in the 1500's and gradually made their way south. I thought maybe you were related to one of the three brothers from Concordia, Kansas, one of whom was my husband's grandfather. I ran into the descendant of another of the brothers through business--she lives in Florida, clear across the country. The grandson of the third brother found my husband when he moved to the area some years ago. There's not that many of us around.

I just wanted to let you know I also have extreme belching and burning around my heart when I'm gluten-ed. It's my first sign that I've eaten something that I shouldn't have. I am extremely careful with my diet, but have to eat out often with travel. My enterolab results were no G,S, Oats and tuna. I was home all week before last and on Friday left on a trip to Orlando to see my son. In the car, I started belching and burning and it continued for 4 full days...followed by diarrhea. I had about 6-7 miserable days and I have absolutely no idea what I ate or where it came from. This time I didn't panic like I normally do. I got pepto when the D started and did the 8 pills a day routine until the D subsided. I'm still having left over gurgles, but feeling so much better. It's crazy how much of a chest/gut connection we have with this condition.
