Donna, it would be perfect for that purpose. I bought it at Whole Foods, wasn't too expensive considering just how filling it was. I couldn't find the one I bought last year and bought this one that called itself a "biscotti". It's a solid chunk, nothing at all like a biscotti. I plan on going back to Whole Foods to try to find the one I bought last year. I'll let you know what it is called if I can find it. It is much more solid than a Lara bar and delicious.

Sheila, sounds like a wonderful vacation! I know you will have the best time.
I haven't foreign- travelled since all this started, but have gone on several trips. Didn't have any problems going through security with two dozen muffins in my carryon. On a road trip I took several loaves of almond bread, and they were fine over a week in and out of refrigerators and coolers. I wonder if the staff would let you keep your food in their galley? Just a thought. I think you will do fine, as I did on my trips, eating out. Ordered everything plain, no seasoning, had chicken, fish, pork chops, requested plain steamed vegetables and a side of olive oil. For dessert I brought a couple Lindt 90% chocolate bars and had a little square. Breakfast seems to be the most difficult, so the muffins/bread are perfect. I have seen almond butter in little individual foil bags. Wonder if that would be a little lighter in your duffle?

Hi Jean,
Love the idea of asking to use the staff fridge.
I've had good results traveling with the paleo muffins. I freeze them in advance and tuck them in my purse, carryon and checked luggage. I find making paleo "mini's works well as I tuck 2 or 3 minis in a ziplock in my purse during the day and eat a little mini when I'm hungry. I also find cooking them until they are kind of well done helps them to hold their shape. They never dry out---I think due to the coconut oil. I've had them last up to a week in a motel fridge until I came home. I pack really really light.....less clothes and more food. Sometimes it is tough to find a box to fit in my suitcase so I'll custom cut some corrugated cardboard and make a cage for my muffins.
Sheila your trip sounds awesome! Have fun! Brandy

Sheila,
A friend of mine who is a well known author wrote a book about the Galapagos islands. His name is Mike D'Orso. A former colleague at the newspaper I worked for. A great journalist. You might want to check it out. It's probably at the library by now. (I haven't read it yet--will get around it some day)

Thank you, Monique. I will check it out. All reading will have to wait until after 7/20 when my youngest son is getting married. His brother and family arrive at my house tomorrow and it will be crazy busy until the big day. I will be up late finishing a library book tonight. The first book I will read post 7/20, will be yours. Can't wait.

Sheila,
Thank you so very much, Sheila! Enjoy.
Mike told me that his Galapagos book was about a colony of American Expats who have made the Galapagos their home. I remember him telling me that nothing much is known about these people stateside and that they lived a very unusual lifestyle.
