Hi Susie,

Technically it depends on what you define as remission. I had solid stool when I got off of entocort--Jan 15 2012.
At the time I thought I was in remission. However I had endless brain fog and memory issues until July 15, 2012 until I discontinued the regular b vitamins (less absorbed) and switched to the b's that are readily absorbed. The brain fog cleared and memory went back to normal mid 2012 but had endless fatigue until I realized I had anemia. I wasn't menstruating so the anemia was clearly due to MC non absorption. It took me about 5 months to boost my ferritin levels. As of about May of 2013 I started to feel "normal." The endless fatigue had finally gone away. I've felt pretty normal the past several months. I'm working on building up more strength, stamina and muscle mass now.
Despite working out through the whole MC thing I had a lot of muscle atrophy. Looking at the big picture I don't think I went into remission until May of 2013 due to all of the brain things. Hope this clarifies, Brandy

Hi Deb13,

I used OTC versions of the vitamins that Jean mentioned that I picked up at Vitamin Shoppe that were G,D,S free. The only negative was it was a lot of little pills to get the one pill proportional metanx equivalent.

Keep us posted on how your appointment goes. It sounds like you have a good strategy. Brandy

Hi Brandy, the endless brainfog- oh how i can relate to that. What are the B vitamins you are taking? I havent switched from my B12 to a B complex or multi vitamin yet as recommended by my doc. I want to use up what I have first and see what the endo recommends before I change anything.

Hi Deb,

Sorry I'm just now getting back. My girlfriend has been going thru two breast cancer lumpectomys. I ended up using the otc version of metanx.

http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewt ... sc&start=0 this is a thread where I talk about my results.

http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewt ... ght=metanx this is where I talk about further results.

I picked up everything locally from vitamin shoppe. Jarrow methyl b12, solgar p5p and solgar folate (metafolin). All were GF, DF SF. The on line options discussed on the current metanx thread probably have less additives. See the two above threads. Basically I took approx enough of everything to equal 1 metanx pill. I took it all in am. (Per tex). It was a pile up of little pills.
See above threads and Tex's recent discussion in Metanx thread for qtys. This stuff really helped me out. Within 4 days my memory issues were gone. Within 2 weeks my brain fog (of 1 year) was gone. After 8 weeks I started getting jittery so I had to cut the dose back proportionally. I'm now down to a very low dose/normal qtys.

Thanks Brandy, I will definitely look into this. Maybe I will be able to get RX which would make it easier. I will have to ask.

I hope your friend is doing well and you haven't been stressed out too much. She's lucky to have someone like you to offer support during a very hard time.
