Need info about capsules used for meds

Post by mcnomore »

I found out that the capsules for a med I am taking contains pregelatinized starch which can be from corn, potato, or wheat, etc. and gelatin which is made from beef.

I am allergic to beef and obviously I am gluten-free.

I guess I can take the powder out and put it in water to drink.

Any ideas or feedback on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

what about a compounding pharmacy? maybe they can transfer them into a vegan hypo-allergenic capsule for you? careful about dumping it into water: not all meds are safe to be opened and consumed without the capsule.

Thanks for the suggestion, I've been toying with that idea, but heard it's expensive. You may be right about putting it in water.

Just called my pharmacist and he said it would be fine to put it in water. Yay!
