Coconut oil

Post by Marsha »

Hello,
I am experience a sudden recurrence of watery D, and just realized it coincideswith my using coconut oil with a new chicken and root vegetable recipes. Are those of us with MC susceptible to coconut intolerance?
Thanks for being here!

Marsha,
hopefully others will chime in but I'm going to guess that coconut intolerance is an individual thing, rather than an ingredient that most MCers react to. I do fine with coconut and coconut oil, whereas soybean oil would set off a flare!

Hope the D resolves quickly.

Coconut is very high in salicylates and some of us with mc can't tolerate salicylates.

Marsha,

If that's a new recipe, I would carefully consider all of the other ingredients also, because sensitivity to coconut oil is not common.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
