Now my thyroid is "normal"

Post by DebE13 »

I probably shouldn't be posting in the mood I'm in but i need people who get it. I called the nurse today because I'm flat out at my wits end dealing with the light headedness, fatigue, and memory problems (in addition to a **it load of other issues aside from my MC). I told her I was having difficulty driving due to my equilibrium. She got me in to get my fine needle aspiration of my thyroid. God bless her. I was so happy not to have to wait until September but it was soon ended when I got the news of my others tests. My MRI of my pituitary is fine and my blood work is "normal" even the tests sent to Mayo. I don't have any numbers yet to share. The high T4 was due to laboratory residue (I think that's what he called it- have CRS syndrome lately so I forgot three seconds after he said it). What the heck does that mean?? He was ready to do the biopsies so I didn't have a chance to get more detail. There were three nodules with seven pokes in the neck. SEVEN!! It's sore and I'm crabby.

I go back in a couple of weeks to discuss all the results but with so much normalness going on I may be at a dead end. My endo is great and I like him a lot so it's hard to dislike him because of my results. He said he was going to email my PCP about my dizziness. I like her too but my whole summer has been shot and I just don't feel like more visits. I shouldn't get upset when I'm only assuming what my endo is going tell me but as I sit here spinning on my couch ready to take a nap, I'm feeling a bit bitter.

On the bright side, at least I didn't have to wait another six weeks to get answers.

Deb,

Good for you in getting in to see your doctor! I've realized of late that the squeaky wheel really does get the grease! I haven't search to see what your other problems are, but I was just curious about your hormones. Have you ever had your hormones checked?

I truly believe, that for most women here on the board, hormone disruption/fluctuation is the beginning of our "downfalls". I was absolutely fine two years ago, then wham! Hormonal problems that brought along anxiety, stress, digestive disorders, fatigue, equilibrium problems, emotional ups and downs, plus a host of other things.

Some doctors will quickly look at your hormonal panels and say your within range. Ha! It takes a hormonal specialist to see what is really going on.

I'd be curious if you've had your estrogen, progesterone, DHEA, testosterone, pregnenolone checked. Also, have you ever had an amino acid profile done?

Could your dizziness be vertigo? I recently had a client "go down" and I had to call the paramedics. They took her in, but it turns out that she now has vertigo and may always have to deal with it.

Mandy, I've not had any of that done that I'm aware of. I received a call today from the referral office and had no idea I was being referred to a neurologist and I had an abnormal MRI. I got a second call from my endo's nurse telling me my labs are all normal and my MRI showed nothing abnormal. :???: I will meet with my endo next week to go over all my results. I'm feeling if one in three people have thyroid nodules and mine appeared to be non cancerous I should have just let them be. Instead I had a painful procedure, have a still angry & sore thyroid gland, and no answers but to get shoved around again. I'm very discouraged at this point and don't know if I should even bother with another appointment. My PCP never even contacted me and I get a referral call. Maybe I should at least be thankful that I didn't have to meet and pay to see her just to make another appointment with another specialty.

I started taking Tex's suggestion for non RX metanx. Not sure it will help or how long it will take to notice if it is but I don't think it will hurt me. A co worker shared with me today that she was diagnosed with some auto immune fatigue syndrome and she simply has to live with it. I can't imagine living life in this state much longer, it's taking a toll on everything including my family. It all makes me very sad and angry. I don't believe I will be able to be treated on symptoms alone if I'm being pushed to a neurologist.

Leah, I don't believe it is. I wouldn't call it dizzy because that seems more severe. It's more light headed and slightly off balance rather than falling down. I am functional a majority of the time but its very annoying and sometimes very bothersome especially when driving. The motion makes it worse. I'm afraid to ride my motorcycle because of it.

My co workers keep urging me to be tested for menopause but I'm still like clockwork so that topic is always brief. Maybe it would be better for me to call my PCP first and ask for hormonal blood work before seeing a neurologist?? Maybe she is under the impression that I'm spinning/fall down type dizzy. I don't want to be on another wild goose chase like when I saw the rheumatologist.
