Mom has gone & I will soon be out of a JOB!

Post by Umber »

Well, my Mom and boyfriend left today. Things went better than expected, thank goodness. I actually enjoyed her visit. She didn't complain much at all. Her boyfriend gets on her nerves so she is constantly on his back. Thank goodness he doesn't hear very well and misses most of what she says. Poor guy!

We were notified yesterday that we will be losing our job. Several departments along with mine are moving to Minnesota. New president means changes but I didn't expect this. To top it off he had to nerve to say to everyone that this will "save" the company 1.5 million a year. It always boils down to money.....We all felt he could have been a little more considerate.

Once they give us the official notice we will work for another 60 days. So its not like I will be out of work tomorrow. Something better will come along. Life is constant change and this is just another bump in the road. Just when I was eligible for another week of vacation next year for a total of 4 weeks. Phooey! One girl I work with has been there for 25 years. I really feel bad for her. She is devistated!

Hugs.

That's a bummer Lori. It alway seems to boil down to "saving money" doesn't it. At least it won't happen right away and you can keep your eye out for something new (and better).

You're attitude is great - something better will come along! It is hardest on those who work for one company for so long that when it comes time to look for another job, going on interviews, etc. they are overwhelmed. Tmes have changed so much and the competition for good jobs can be fierce. I hope your co-worker does well.

Glad your visit with your mother wasn't too bad! I bet you're glad to have your house back!

Lori,
Really, really sorry about the job. It's hard to change jobs even when you want to so I'll be thinking about you and hoping you find something you like even better and I'm grateful you will have some time to look around and get adjusted to the change.

Good luck to you and your co-workers.

Bummer about the job Lori. Glad you have time to keep your eyes open for something else. I'm sure something will come up that you are going to absolutely love (and that will let you laugh...I remember you said once you had a boss who thought you laughed too much  ).

Glad Mom's visit was good too.

Hi Lori!

I'll bet it is wonderful to have the girls home!

Sorry about the job, but I also remembered what Katy said about your "laughing too much", so I'm sure you'll find a job that is a better match. Good luck looking!

Love,

Polly

Morning Lori,

So sorry to hear about the job, but your positive attitude is one that should go a long way on your hunt for a new one. People with positive attitudes are the ones we need in organizations.

It does always boil down to $$.

Good Luck, Maggie

Hi Lori I am sorry you will be out of a job.....I know how you feel. My work lied to me and had me fill out a medical leave form and then tells me there is no medical leave for people there under a year (that's me) So I have been terminated as well. Are you going to look for another job? Love Oma

Glad things went good but am sorry to here about the job---

Yup--$$$$ is always the issue---

My daughter ,Debbie, hAS been outta work a YEAR----she worked for PLATTS, a subsidary of MacGraw Hill, and her whole department went out the window----
The killer is every place she has applied to----she is OVER-QUALIFIED--
and to take a very big pay drop would be a hinderance---
She needs the $$$$ she has been getting to survive--
Nobody will even offer a few $$$ higher---so she is quite in a very bad state--

We hope something comers along for her-----

Keep faith---keep strong--
