Carageenan free almond milk
Okay, for those of you who are worried that the carrageenan in your almond milk may be giving you problems, SILK brand doesn't have it. Almond Breeze does

Leah - thank you for posting this. I seldom use milk, but have always used the So Delicious Coconut Milk. Have just changed to Silk Almond Milk.

Leah,
Silk does have it in the coconut milk...I wonder why it's not in almond milk (it has other 'gums' though), but it is in coconut milk? I only know because Silk and SO Delicious are the only brands of coconut milk available to me in my area, and I don't buy either.
I make my own, so I know what goes into it....just coconut and water. :)

My Silk almond milk has sea locust gum I think. But do well with it.
Does anyone know of a lunchmeat that has no nitrates, is gluten free and has no carrageenan??!! I bought some hormel roasted turkey lunchmeat on Sunday...said gluten free, no nitrates....was so happy at the thought of eating a lunchmeat sandwich again that I bought it and ate it that day. Then I thought maybe I should look at the label....yes, my brain has not been functioning well lately....and low and behold it's got that nasty carrageenan in it...wth?! Does anyone know of an okay lunchmeat to eat every now and then. I'm more willing to get one with nitrates then one with carrageenan. Driving me nuts!
Thanks,
Terri

I imagine Boar's Head and Dietz and Watson are some of the safest, widely available GF national brands. I haven't checked for carageenan though. Otherwise Applegate Farms is GF/DF, nitrate free, and usually safe overall.

Thanks Zizzle,
I will be scouting my local stores for something free of carrageenan. We just got a sprouts but have no idea what they carry and we get a Whole Foods my early next year. Can't come sooner. I do eat Applegates breakfast sausages but have not found any sliced deli meet from them but haven't looked that well for them. Just want something for a sandwich so bad. I even had some tomato, pickles and lettuce on it....ate that for 2 days with no issues. Boy, it was good to have a sandwich again. Hubby just laughs at what I appreciate these days!!
I will keep an eye out on those brands you mentioned. thanks!!

For those of you looking for milk alternatives, here's a long explanation for making coconut milk kefir and yogurt. I plan to order my kefir grains after I return from Sweden later this month. My mother has been using kefir granules for years. In Guatemala we refer to them as yogurt animals. We didn't know they were bacilli for making kefir until recently! My sister recently tried coconut milk on her milk grains and it worked. Can't wait!!

Boars Head is carageenan-free. Safeway's Primo Taglio turkey also is. I'm not sure about their other lunchmeats.
I looked at the ingredients in Dietz and Watson a few years ago and something was problematic, so I never bought it. They may have changed their recipe since then, though.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
Well I found Hormel's honey ham to be carrageenan and nitrate free so I ate some of that today. Couldn't find Boars Head. Just so happy to have another sandwich today!! Making my husband eat the turkey lunchmeat with the carrageenan in it.

I guess you're not bothered by the histamines in the lunch meat...good for you. What kind of bread you use for your sandwiches?
Hugs,
Monique
