So sorry Babs, that you are having such a tough time. I remember the many days of tears.
I was on once a day Diflucan for 4 months! (It's a pretty benign drug). That should take care of any fungal infection! I was on a no sugar, carbs, or fermented food diet ( anti-candida). Your bananas are very high in sugar and starch though. They could be the culprit. I was never tested or treated for SIBO.
With Entocort, I was on the full dose per day for 1 month. 6mg. for another month. 3mg. for two more months, and the last two months were spent tapering off and fine tuning the diet ( because the lower the dose, the easier it is to tell if you are reacting to something). it's important to stay on long enough to heal. Many people have relapsed because their doctor insisted that they only stay on it for a certain amount of time. it's pretty safe on a very low dose.
So you do BETTER with the probiotics? You are the first person I think I have heard a difinitive positive result with them. I can't take them. it will bring on D within a day.
Hope you get the help you need and feel better soon

I don't have anything to add as far as the yeast, Babs, but I had a bad weekend too : ( feeling very sorry for myself and angry, angry, angry. I'm feeling better tonight lol! It's ok to have these emotions...I think it's important to acknowledge them so you can move on and do what you need to care for yourself kindly. Hang in there and I will too.

thanks to both of you!! I am sooo glad you chirped in Jody - nice to hear it's normal what we are experiencing. I also heard today that I am denied Long term disability so am going back to work part time 3 days a week starting wed. just 2 hours there and 2 hours working from home to start with to see how I handle it. I am just thinking its time to stop letting this disease control my life. I am tired of being at home since march and not get better. I was having 2 great weeks a few weeks ago and of course they dropped my dosage and now all the sensitivities are back again. I am just tired. Now the yeast issue UGH! will be interesting to see if SIBO plays a role here for sure.
I love my yogurt and am worried since being off so long (2 weeks for the hydrogen test) that I may encounter issues going back to it?? who knows but I sure will be pissed off if that happens. Yes, bananas are bad - didn't know that. So diflucan every day for that long seems insane!! isn't that hard on your liver? So I am thinking if it's the entocort causing the yeast I will also be on diflucan forever UGH!! at $20 per pill that will qet quite expensive!!!!!!!! Maybe I will be okay with 1 a week ? So if you can't take probiotics how to replenish the good bacteria into your gut? what foods can you eat now after how long being on entocort? thxs!!!! :) you are helping me immensely!! Both of yoU!!

Hi Babs. No, my liver is fine and because my doctor wrote the prescription that I had to take it every day, i only paid for one prescription's worth. Now, I get 12 at a time ( for the price of one. it's generic), but i don't use them often. you probably would be ok with one a week.
When it comes to Probiotics.... well, it's complicated. just because we have MC doesn't mean that we don't have plenty of good bacteria. As humans, we are suppose to be able to keep our gut flora balanced without outside sources. Having said that, some of us get worse taking them because our bodies see these "new bacteria" as invaders ( just like they see some of our food now) and start an assault to rid itself of them by producing antibodies.... which in turn cause inflammation. Those Enterolab tests many of us take measure these antibodies from a stool sample. that's how we know what foods we are reacting to.
I was on Entocort for 6 months total, but not very long on the full dose. i have been off the drug now for about a year. I eat all meats and eggs, rice and it's products, corn products, and cooked vegetables. Once i was healed enough, I added white potatoes, beans ( but not all legumes), some tomato products, small salads, raw veggies, a little dark chocolate, straight alcohol, home made popcorn popped in coconut oil... I do pretty well. I will always be gluten, dairy, and soy free and i still have problems with raw fruits.
Do i have perfect "normans" every day? No. But I have come to a place in my life where I can be pretty happy with what i can eat, and I only have one BM a day ( usually) that is soft ( sometimes too soft), but i am ok with that because i don't have a lot of gas or pain and I can live my active life ( I am a personal trainer and nutritionist) without worrying about finding a bathroom. We all have to find our own balance . You are in the beginning stages and they are the hardest. I shed a lot of tears at first. just know that it does get better if you do the hard work now.
For some , it only takes a short time, but for others, it's a long hard journey. Hang in there and try to remember that it takes time for our guts to heal. I am probably still healing :)

thanks Leah! Wow I would love to be able to eat what you eat!!! Your story gives me hope. Did you do a lot of bone broth? my issue is it makes me nauseas big time so can't eat it so when I have a flare I end up starving myself to get out of it since there is nothing I can eat to settle it as meat and veggies are too harsh. I have recently heard that those with SIBO usually can't have bone broth due to the mucopolysacharides which feed the bad guys - ever heard of that? They say to try just meat broth but I have no idea how to make that?? Do you think me going back to work is okay at this point??

Only you know when you are ready to work. Give it a try. your body will let you know.
No, I never did bone broth, but I did make chicken soup with a whole chicken. Then I added carrots and rice when it was done.
When I am in a flare, meat and white rice is what sits best with me ( but not in large quantities)... as weird as that sounds
