A good report!
Hi Everyone,
I like to check in every few months. 2013 has been good so I want to share hope with the newbies. I don't want all my posts to be crisis driven. Since my flare up November 2012(due to Thanksgiving gluttony) I have had smooth sailing. The inflammation finally is in remission in my gut. It's been 7 months now with no gut ache, no toilet adventures, or embarrassing accidents. How did I do it? By listening to everyone on this forum and by reading Tex's book and by trial and error on what to eat and what not to eat. I no longer keep up my food log. I have a collection of recipes that have proven safe. When I test a recipe I draw a Happy Face, Sad Face, or Neutral face on the recipe. When I want to cook I flip through my recipe books looking for a Happy Face stamp. I cook on weekends and make enough of a batch to freeze 5 frozen dinners for my work week lunches. I rarely eat out. Why risk it? One thing that's happening in my third year with this disease is that I've been adding food items back in small amounts, items I could not eat last year. My gut seems so healed that if I occasionally eat something that was once "iffy" I am fine. I'm rejoicing! This has been my longest remission to date. This whole process of healing takes patience but finally I'm digging the phrase, " You can get your life back".
Wishing you progress in your individual journeys.
Best.
Cory

Great news!!! And I hope you stay in remission! I'm 8 months in remission now without meds so we are pretty much the same. I go to 3 restaurants and do well with them luckily. I've added new foods in too! The true test will come when the holidays approach again! Wishing I could just skip them all together.
Again, congrats...and so happy you are doing so well. Good story for the newbies...it does get better.
Thanks for sharing.

It's wonderful to hear good news ! So glad you are doing well. I'm jealous, too. For the most part, I do okay but I'm stuck on one budesinide every other day.

Thanks Cory,
Based on what you and Kari have said about being in the 3rd year after diagnosis I am looking forward to this next year. I was diagnosed 2 years ago this month, headed to year 3.
