Today's GI appointment
Seemed to go well. I got the Entocort prescription. She said I could be on it up to a year which isn't at all what I thought from the last appointment. That's why I read Polly's statement on the back cover of Tex's book to her.
She did tell DH about Imuran and 6MP, so I wasn't imagining that!
She hadn't heard of FPIES and I told her about that and related it to the EnteroLab tests. (I still have a burning desire to show it to the allergists I saw along with my new EL intolerance test results.)
They poo pooed the test and what Tex said about once the gluten is gone the antibodies (I guess) go after the next thing. Ha, look at my
tests. That is exactly what happened. I knew Tex was right 5 years ago with the soy. Now on and on.........
I guess I need to read the PP for Entocort tips and find my Tex book. I haven't seen it since I took it to my last appointment. Do I have to be strict about avoiding all the intolerances that I know?

Hi Joan.
All good questions.
If you have "known" intolerances, then you should stay far away from those. If you know of certain "other" foods that aggravate the situation like raw fruits and veggies, they can be tested back in one at a time once you are on a very low dose of Entocort. The drug will mask some reactions- especially at a high dose. While you are taking the drug, you should eat as simply as possible and stick to your good diet because THAT is what will heal you ( not the drug).
When it comes to taking Entocort, you want to take the full dose until you start getting a little constipated. Listen to your body. That is the time to cut the dose . When you get to the point of going below one pill a day, then the weaning process should be very slow. To avoid relapse, it seems that you need to be on it at least 4-6 months. you will know when you are ready.
Good luck and let us know how it goes

I know how you feel. I don't know any of my intolerances for sure because the Enterolab tests don't work for me. i originally took almost all the foods that MOST LIKELY could be giving me problems. Then after i weaned off the drug, I tested things back in. The Entocort allows you to get back to life WHILE you do the best you can on the diet because it's the diet that really does the healing.
