Hair thinning can certainly be a result of medications like steroids and Imuran. Certainly nutritional deficiencies also play a role. As mentioned I would add Biotin and a vitamin B complex and if you are not already, add a vitamin D supplement to your diet. I know with the medications I take, one of the side effects is hair loss, adding Biotin, vitamin D and a B complex has helped it thicken up quite a bit. It's probably the best it's been since I was a 20 something...

Joe, good suggestions. What kind of B supplement to you take? It it all in one pill or or do you take a variety?

Hi,

I would take a bloodtest to test your hormones. I had major issues with hairloss when I was on entocort. I had low cortisol, oestrogen, testosteron but my prolactin level was high.

This all had to do with medications, stress, ... Now that I have all of this under control, my hais is growing back !

I read that cortisone causes hairloss, maybe that's your problem?

I hope that I helped you.

Deb I take a mix, I'm not at home at the moment and can't remember the brand but I was careful to make sure they were MC friendly. The B12 one is sublingual. Taking them separately you can adjust the levels accordingly. My PCP works with my nutritionist to have my levels checked twice a year via a blood test, from that I adjust how much I take.

I just did a search regarding hair loss and biotin and found this string. I do have very thick hair, but notice that it is shedding a bit. I had my annual physical this morning and my PCP recommended biotin. She is also running a thyroid test and checking my B-12 level. I do take plenty of D and B-12 every day. I'm curious to see what the results are. Meanwhile I am going to pick up some biotin tomorrow.

I forgot to mention that I do also take Imuran for the MC, but not about to give that up even if I am shedding. I don't take anti-inflammatory meds or steroids. I noticed this going on shortly before being diagnosed with MC and it did not get worse while taking Entocort, which I have not taken in over a year or from the Imuran.

I TOO ON ENTOCORT AM EXPERIENCING HAIR LOSS ON MY HEAD. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD A THICK FULL HEAD OF HAIR.
I HAVE ALWAYS COLOURED IT, I AM SCARED TO DO THAT AT THE MOMENT. I HAVE NOT TAKEN ENTOCORT NOW FOR 1 MONTH, SO I HAVE HOPES THAT MY HAIR WILL RETURN.

TRY USING EYE SHADOW STIPLE IT ON YOUR SCALP WITH A BLUSHER BRUSH, AND IT DO CAMOFLAGH THE PINK SCALP, HIDING IT FROM PRYING EYES.

I WISH YOU LUCK WITH YOUR HAIR COMING BACK,.

KINDEST THOUGHTS

I have had hair loss this past year. Wore scarfs it got so bad.

Was just diagnosed with LC 3 weeks ago, so my hair loss was due to poor nutrient absorption, and stress from being so sick. Now on Endocort for 2 days. So that was not the cause.

Biotin and highly absorbable multi (powder) helped.

Chris
Diagnosed April 2014, after losing 50 lbs. in 6 months.
Delzicol April 2014 (no effect, after 3.5 weeks-removed)
Endicort April 2014 - helping, but still losing.
Pepto-Bismal 9 a day - May 2014
Thankful for support!
