Sick of the Medical Establishment!!

Post by lorimoose »

I am so angry. I just spoke to Enterolabs, only the find out the New York State will not allow them to do business here (or in Maryland). They cannot send or receive from NY, because some medical bureaucrat decided it was not a good idea.

I wish I had know sooner, since I was out of state just last week, and can not travel again for a long while. I spoke with Enterolab, about shipping to someone else, but since they can not even recieve a package back from NY, and the time limitations to get it back out make it impossible. I just cannot take more time off of work, to go out of state to mail it back.

There is still something in my diet, that is not working, and there are probably lots of things I can eat, and now I will never know.

I will have to stop feeling so angry, since it is out of my control....javascript:emoticon('')

Warmly,
Lori

I helped out another member from NY. I live in VT. I ordered the test for her. It was sent to me in Vermont. I mailed it to her in NY. She sent it back to me in Vermont. I mailed it to Enterolab. I am happy to do the same for you. You can pay me through Paypal and I will charge it on my credit card.

Thank you so much for the offer Jean. Enterolab told me it must be sent overnight on the day of the poop, because the sample needs to be fresh. If I overnight it you, that would put me at 2 days which would not be desirable. I thought about that with my daughter out of state, but Entero suggested that I would need to go visit, and take care of business because of the time constants.

I could visit my daughter, but then my luck, I wouldn't poop that day!!! I just got back from a trip, and have taken so much sick time prior, I can't be away.

Now I am thinking about trying to find someone to drive my fresh poop to Connecticut or Jersey. How do you ask someone to drive your poop out of state? Oy.

Funny how this is our real life, and not just a really silly comedy.

Lori,

Regardless of what the EnteroLab rep might have told you, the sample has to be frozen, and once frozen, it is stable for many years. EnteroLab used to keep samples for years, in case a client wanted to order additional tests years later, but now they have so many clients that they can only afford to store the frozen samples for a few months, due to space limitations (even though they have moved into new, larger facilities).

The point is, as long as the sample is kept frozen (even if it is thawed somewhere along the line and refrozen), it can be kept indefinitely.

We have one member in Hong Kong, whose sample was held up in customs in Alaska for several days. When they finally realized their mistake ( ), they released it and the sample worked just fine when it reached EnteroLab.

Trust me, Jeans generous offer will work just fine. Remember, freeze it immediately, and always keep it frozen (or refreeze promptly if it thaws), and it will work just fine. EnteroLab will never know the difference.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thanks Tex. They did not mention the freezing aspect or the Monday- Wednesday mail dates on the telephone. So many details, from ordering to sending to complicate things. Pooping is something that I am so private about, except with everyone here. And now look how far I have come....trying to send poop out of state.

I guess it is time to laugh, take a break, breathe and then think about what to do in a while.

Warmly,
Lori

Hi Lori, When, I had my stool tests they were frozen and then shipped. There was no problem with the sample. If you are concerned with defrosting, pack it in frozen ice packs and ship them overnight. Jon

I just sent mine in the 19th and was instructed that it had to be frozen 24 hrs. before mailing.....they also said not to add anything to mailing package (such as frozen ice packs) because pkg. couldn't weigh over 1 lb. I ordered the tests that had the limited time free shipping so it was on their dime.

I think Tex gave an excellent example.....my gosh Hong Kong AND held up in customs and it was still okay.

Hello,

I have decided to skip the Enterolab tests for now. I am just not comfortable ethically with all that I, and generous friends would have to go through to make it possible, and it would still be illegal in NY. It upsets me that my state has these rules, but others have achieved good results without the tests. I still love NY, it has been my home most of my life.

The outcome would most likely be that, I would be on a GF DF SF diet, which I have been doing, and I am learning to make that work. Struggling with the entocort dosage was a challenge. After 2 weeks, I needed to go from 9 to 6 mg. Side effects and constipation set in, and after one week on 6mg, the constipation was still a very big issue. I am down to 3 mg, and very careful diet control, and I am doing well. I must be very sensative to steroids. My GI has been easy to work with, testing and prescribing the meds, without my having to ask and explain.

If after the six months on entocort and diet I don't succeed, I will revisit the idea to do Enterolabs.

Jean, I can't begin to thank you enough for your very kind and generous offer to help.

I read the quote from the Dalai Lama on another thread, and realize how lucky I am.

Warmly,
Lori

Lori,

If you ever change your mind about the testing I will happily help you out. Please have no ethical qualms in regards to me.

Certainly people have achieved success without the tests and I hope you are one of them. Keep in mind that Entocort can mask symptoms so some of your sensitivities might not show up until you stop taking Entocort. Leah is a good person to consult since she has had good results without being able to utilize the testing. Gabes also achieved success without testing. The more foods you eliminate while still taking Entocort the more likely you are to be successful. You can always try adding them back in eventually. Elimination diet instructions generally recommend eating only 4 foods, I believe.

Good luck,
Jean
