A way TMI question

Post by kitty16 »

Hi,

Could only ask this here. They have stopped all my meds in preparation for Tuesdays colonoscopy/endoscopy. Stopped questran, librax, donnatal and the occasional immodium. Have been having strange colored BM's. they are light yellow to Almost white???

Anyone can shed some light on what's happening.

Thanks,
KK

Hi Kitty,

That's a typical sign of fat malabsorption. Withdrawing from the use of all those medications has apparently caused your digestion/absorption to deteriorate somewhat. IOW, one or more of the meds were probably masking your fat malabsorption problem while you were taking them.

Good luck with the cleanout and the procedures. I hope they go smoothly.

You're very welcome,
Tex

Not really, because fat malabsorption is typical for any of the IBDs (including MC and celiac disease). It's usually caused by gluten damage to the small intestine.

There are no known drug interactions between donnatal and budesonide.
