Joanne,
I lost my sister to drugs 10 days ago. Well, I actually lost her years ago but she died 10 days ago. And yes, it's hurting. I know what you are going trough.

Hang in there. You have friends here!

I am just returning to the forum today. My sister passed away 4 yrs ago when she was 19. Life will get better with time and my parents are a testament to that. Do what works for you- therapy didnt help me but I had started horseback riding about 1 year later and that was my therapy. I've also volunteered at animal rescues and walk outside. My parents attended a support group for some time but it was not for them. They have become avid kayakers and take several long weekend trips throughout the year. Remember, it took TIME for all of us. I am a strong advocate for hobbies to help through life's difficulties. Allow yourself to grieve and heal as you need to but take care of yourself. Your loved ones need you in their life.

You know, it's strange. As I said we lost her years ago, and I had no contact with her for many years, so I can go days at a time without thinking of her, but I suddenly realize I am feeling low and down. I try to trace it, and I realize she has been in the back of my thoughts.
Best to bring it out in the open but I forget to do it. I mourned her years ago, but I guess I am facing the finality this time.

Jessica, I am so very sorry about your sister passing. Life can be so sad.

Leslie, I believe if my nephew didn't die, it would have been just more suffering for him and his family. His addiction was out of control and he refused to go into rehab.
