I, too, was always a morning person, having to get up and out before 6:30 AM for my teaching job. I thank my stars every day that LC did not seriously raise its ugly head till after I retired, because I would not have been able to go to work.

I have adapted to it. If I have a morning commitment, such as an appointment, or, more usually, an exercise class, I get up two hours ahead to give myself time for multiple trips to the bathroom. After that, the day mostly goes fine.

BMC- I was definitely a morning person. In fact I would go to bed at night looking forward to getting up the next day.
AMC- Very different. At least I don't dread waking up since the nausea is gone but afternoons and evenings I feel better and have more energy. It's kinda like, by the time I'm about done with work I start to feel like working. I miss my old self though.

During this current flare mornings are always the roughest for me.
Diagnosed with MC in June of 2011. Prescribed 0.375 grams of Apriso. Experienced remission within 3 weeks while still eating whatever I wanted. Flare up in May of 2013. Digesting all the information on this board and developing a food strategy.

Because I teach, I am up each day by 5:30.

BMC - I had great morning energy.
AMC - Mornings are a real struggle. Early when I had several rounds of D before work, I had to get up earlier - at least an hour - to make sure I was on time for work. Now that I am better, I find my energy and focus is considerably less in the mornings than in the afternoons and evenings. If I have a rough morning, it takes me even longer that day to recover.

I didn't vote because I wasn't sure how to interpret when I'm at my best..... I am a morning person and am most productive from 5AM until about 1PM. However, this is also when my MC is at its worst. I continue to get my stuff done in the mornings but am also tethered to he house until I finish my MC routine. I don't care for public restrooms or getting caught outside the house when I have to go. This also means no more grocery shopping at 6 AM or having overnight guests when I'm up north at the cabin. It's too stressful on me to worry about making noise or waiting my turn for the bathroom. There is no turn taking- it's always my turn first.

Since December of 2012 I've had other health issues (investigating thyroid) so I'm dealing with absolutely no energy right now.

I've always been a morning person -early to bed and early to rise.

I hear you.

It sounds to me as though you are definitely a morning person, despite your MC.

I have always been a morning person...and needed practically needed a nap in the afternoon!

Since MC I functional a lot better in the afternoon and evening. It takes quite a while for me to focus in the morning. I blamed having to give up caffeinated coffee for a while. I have a friend with lupus and she has lots of trouble functioning in the morning. I theorize that this may be common to those who have autoimmune issues.

Linda,

Does caffeine cause you to react, or are you avoiding it just to be on the safe side?

Tex,

I drink a cup of decaf daily. Decaf is low in salicylic acid, where regular coffee is high in it. That's the only reason I avoid the regular.

I have more energy in the mornings and have better productivity then, but I'm in the bathroom many times before noon. Arg! Hard to get things done, and I don't go anywhere unless I have to in the mornings.

Pre MC I was a night owl. I was at my most productive in the evenings. I would stay up until 11pm on weeknights and until 1am on weekends and sleep in late any chance I could get.

Post MC I'm fatigued most of the day due to being woken at 5/5.30am to make multiple trips to the bathroom. I'm now at my most productive in the afternoons after my BMs calm down. I find that I now need to go to bed at 9.30pm weekdays and weeknights in order to cope.

Tex, I am just like you! You probably already know this but my GI told me that inflammation is worst in the a.m.

I have never considered myself a high energy person. Since MC, the fatigue is constant.

Mornings were and still are my best time. I feel good enough to exercise and I focus better at work. As the day progresses, I begin to get bloated, cramping and just can't wait to get home to lie down.
