Finally Something is Working!

Post by Fish2575 »

I wanted to share my progress, though it is a little bit of a strange path. I know that the majority of my issues are with histamine, so despite elimination of allergic foods I was unable to achieve remission.

Last week I read an article about a woman with histamine issues who stopped eating meat. Her reasoning: All meat that is aged or not eaten the day it is caught/killed has extremely high levels of histamine. Well who of us can eat meat the day it is killed? May be some of you are hunters, but that is not one of my gifts at the moment.

So, hesitantly I cross referenced all of the high histamine foods with all of the high salicylate foods (another sensitivity of mine) and the allergens I have. I came up with:

Turnips
Carrots
Celery
Pears
Small amounts of Winter Squash
Cauliflower

One of the most significant things I realized is that Olive Oil and Coconut Oil are both very high in Salicylates. Grapeseed oil for me!

So at the moment I am taking a high quality Amino Acid Blend (Pure Form 950) and eating only the above foods plus my morning coffee that makes it all worth it

I am on Zyrtec and Zantac, and I am actually starting to feel better.

So I just wanted to throw this out there for those struggling with remission. If histamine and salicylates are your enemy (or even just histamine) taking a look at your meat intake may be necessary.

My hope is that once I lower my histamine load in the gut I will be able to add back in some meat! Susie

Great news and helpful info for the rest of us. Thanks! I know I have trouble with salicylates and probably histamine too.
Also have sleep apnea

That's good news for you- good detective work! How do you get enough protien? I'm currently struggling with a very low appetite so often I end up eating just meat.

Deb, right now I am taking large doses of an amino acid supplement that is use in elemental diets. I had tried eating meat most of the time, and it seemed to make me worse! I don't have too much of an appetite either. Thankfully the supplement keeps me from losing weight!

I've contemplated doing an elemental diet for a few weeks, to see if my rash is truly food allergy/sensitivity related. Did you need a prescription for it? What's the brand name?

I bought Jo Mar pure form 21 blend amino acids. No script. You can buy powder, which would be easier. I take 10-15 pills 3-5x a day :)
