Had my review at work...

Post by Umber »

This is one of the things my supervisor said "Lori has a great sense of humor and contributes to the quality of of the team" I thought this was funny since I am always getting into trouble for laughing! Go figure! I recieved a very good review & an excellent rating. Maybe I am not so disruptive after all! We are gonna need some fun and laughing with what we are facing!

Hugs!

This is something I was never able to grasp when I was working. We would have these emergency meetings about the low moral in the office and they would want us to come up with ideas. They would tell us to always have a smile on our faces when meeting with our clients, and to greet them by their names, and try to remember something that we knew about them, so that we could talk to them and make them feel at home. BUT then if the person talked too much we had to shut them down some how so that they were not insulted, and so that they didn't think we were pushing them out the door. Afterall we had work to do and THE BOSSES THAT BE did not want us wasting time chit chatting or laughing too much. ONE in particular would clear her throat and say your name, and raise her eyebrows. That was the suttle signal for us to get on with it, like the client didn't see that??? And heavens forbid if we got the silly's, and laughed. I mean just how do you balance the fine act of not going crazy with THE RULES, and the fact that THE RULES CAN CHANGE AT ANYTIME, and also have good moral in the office.
Well I brought a calendar for the office with the joke of the day on it. AND some people would even try to look ahead, because we liked starting the day with a good laugh.

I think basically the non laughing people were jelous of the laughing peoples, because they just didn't know how to get there fingers out of the bosses oh guess we all know what I mean.

Betcha they are going to miss you when you are not around to make them laugh Lori, too bad for them. As for the job review, at least they didn't hold it against you. It must also be hard right now to know that the job will be over and knowing the people who you have worked for are going through the same things. I went through a merger, and that was hell. The merger took 5 months to complete though, and I was the one that was going to have a job in the end, and my boss was not. LET me tell you it was very stressful. She blamed me for the merger, like I had the power. No it really happened because of her mismanagement, and after the audit, our board of directors was privately met with and told they would have to merge with someone else or be closed down. IT was a small credit union. And I had taken 2 weeks off, sick, at the time, then another two weeks, and then I decided to call the president and quit. My nerves were shot, but they convinced me that they needed me to go back as I was the only one who really knew what was going on. So I did, but my boss thought that while I was off, I was doing this somehow. It never once crossed her mind that she had ignored the auditors requests so much, and blatantly, that she caused her own demise. So I was the that she decided to blame. She made my life hell for the whole duration. There was also the fact that she was turning 65 at the time. And for the first while in my new place of work, the ladies there were resentful that I was put into a position that they felt should have been one of theres. They also ignored the fact that I had the training and experience and was willing to take more, which I did. AND that my friends is why I really didn't like working with so many women. It finally settled after about 6 months, but it was not much fun. And I did feel bad for my old boss, I mean she was a nice person, just didn't know what she was doing. AND when she decided to wear pants to work one day which she rarely did, but was trying to fit in, I was the one to come to her aid when she came out of the bathroom with toilet paper trailing down her backside! Everyone else was ready to have a good laugh, but it was not something I would have liked anyone to do to me, so I brought it to her attention. By the time she left work, she knew I had not been the enemy, because I was the one to show her some things to get her by. And I arranged a little retirement party for her, bought everything at a little Italian place. And it ended in me receiving a very nice card from her in the mail a few weeks later.

All ended well. But do not wish this kind of change on anyone. Hope you are doing ok Lori.

Much love
and
Hugs

Congratulations Lori. Great work. I would much rather be around cheerful, happy people than sad morose ones. You have to have a laugh each day, it is good for your health.

Love

Lori,

Sounds like you will have no problem getting another job with those kind of reviews! There is nothing more valuable than a team player who makes positive contributions! You DO have a super sense of humor, BTW!

Love,

Polly
