Is there such a thing as having "half" of a flare?

Hi Tex, Leah,

The new medicine is Tiorfix (in Belgium). The doctor said that I should be better with this. It takes out the water in the stool, so that you don't have D anymore. It's not the same as immodium. That's really all I know...

I stopped using yoghurt last week... It all started when I had to eat nothing but dairy for 3 days. After these 3 days, the symptoms started to develop. I was still on Bion Transit during that period. The symptoms never broke through until now, when I stopped the bion transit. I think it's a combination of the two.

I should have known that this would happen. I knew that dairy is a huge risk for people with MC. I got too brave thinking that I was healed and I would stay like this. Stupid... It was also stupid to change the probiotic, knowing very well that every probiotic is different and doesn't necessarily work for everybody.

Hi Julie,

That medication was shown to be slightly more effective than Imodium in trials conducted in 2002, and it should work quickly.

Please don't blame yourself. We all tend to become overconfident when we are in remission, and we sometimes forget that we can quickly suffer a relapse if we're not careful.

I hope you get relief soon.

Hi Tex,

I took the medicine for the first time today : I didn't have to go to the bathroom at all! I hope I won't have C ...

I feel better, but I have these stomach aches. It just hits me suddenly, I take a litican and then it goes away again. I have this 3 times a day. It's an annoying pain and then the nauseau comes along with it. It really hurts. I'm starting to think that I have a gall bladder problem. I realy hope I don't have anything there.

I already have an appointment with my specialist on Monday. I hope that there isn't anything wrong with my stomach or gall bladder too.

Hi Julie,

It could be your gallbladder. Sometimes an MC flare can cause inflammation of the gallbladder or the common bile duct, and when the MC flare is controlled, the gallbladder symptoms will fade away also.

Take enough of the new medication to control the D, but don't take more than you need, and you shouldn't have a problem with C. If you start having C, reduce your daily dose.

Good luck with this.

Hi Tex,

Thanks for the reply. I will know more on Monday. I hope that the specialist will do an echo of my gall bladder to see if there's something wrong.
