I hit the road in an hour and as I'm looking up all the various thyroid meds that are used I find that most have many dyes in them. What for? I've never been tested for sensitivities to them so I can't say for sure if I have issues with any of them. I do try to avoid them whenever possible.
My endo said he'd most likely put me on synthroid. That contains lactose which I do not tolerate well. Some of the others don't have lactose but have dyes. Do I ask for that instead? But then I've heard I should ask for the notation of "no generic substitutes."
I noticed Armour has neither. I already requested it and he didn't look to thrilled.
Will I be stuck taking whatever they give me or will they understand the problems dyes and fillers could cause for someone with MC? Haha, I already laughed out loud on that one.
Any suggestions?

Deb,
They probably won't understand, but if you insist, based on your diagnosis of MC and your known (lab tested) food sensitivities, I don't see how they could refuse your request/demand. It's your body, not theirs. They're just hired consultants.
Here is a list of doctors in Wisconsin who will work with you on thyroid issues:

You can buy natural dessicated thyroid supplements on Amazon, if necessary. I've tried them (back when the manufacturing process for Armour was being updated), and they work.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Thanks! My surgeon will be in to visit in be morning before I am discharged. Most likely he will tell me to have the conversation with my endo next week.
