Chicken or egg question cracked

Post by Blueberry »

As someone who has problems with eating eggs, thought this might be an alternative I'll try someday. As with past experiences though with the artificial plant meats, don't hold high hopes the taste or nutrient value will be as good as the real thing.

It seems more groups than ever are working on creating artificial meats these days. From a health standpoint, I wonder if this is a good idea. Then again, as with how most farm animals are commercially raised these days I suppose artificial and natural are relative terms.

This is just a WAEG, but remember that this innovative idea is claimed to solve the main problem that most egg substitutes have, namely insufficient binding characteristics. Guess which plant component takes top honors as a binder. . . . That's right — wheat gluten.

Maybe my guess will turn out to be wrong, though.

Excellent point - if I found the product on a store shelf I'd give the label a good look over. As with eggs, wheat gluten isn't gut friendly either.
