Hi,
I'm new to this site and so thankful I've found it.
Regarding healing the "gut". I've been diagnosed May of this year with CC and I've been on Budeside(?) for the last six weeks. I've been GF, DF and Soy free for going on a month. Oh and I have my MRT sensitive results and consequently adjusting foods accordingly. Is this the right approach, in general, to allowing my "gut" to heal and eventually find remission?
Thanks!
Scott

Welcome Scott.
You are off to great start. Is the Budesonide helping with symptoms? When it comes to taking budesonide, make sure you listen to your body. if you start to feel constipated, lower your dose. i don't know how long your doctor is willing to let you take it, but take your time weaning off of it. It seems that the people who get off of it too soon tend to relapse and when you do wean, do it very slowly.
If you'd like a great resource for information, Tex has written a book on MC. just click on it in the upper right hand corner of this page to take you to Amazon. I was on Budesonide for 6 months and have been off of it for more then a year now. I only take OTC anti histamines now. histamines are another issue that you might want to look into if you find that diet alone doesn't work.
Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Hi Scott,
You are going down the right path. May I suggest that you wean off the Budesonide gradually. Then when you are off the meds keeping a food log is a good idea. Start off with some foods that are easy to digest like: mashed potatoes, white rice, boiled chicken, canned green beans, etc., then add a new food item every few days. The foods you react to, cross off your list. That's what worked for me. I could not afford the expensive tests to determine food allergies. Now I have enough stuff on my "safe food" list that I am adapting recipes using them. It does get better but it takes patience and time. I occasionally get "glutened" but I have healed enough now that I don't get sick like I used to. Good luck on your CC journey to a healing gut.

Hi Scott,
Welcome to the board. Leah and Cory wrote excellent responses, and I agree with them that you appear to be on the right track, and off to a great start.
With any luck at all, you should soon have your life back.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Thanks for the advice about tapering the Budesonide. Your advice matches my GIs recommendation, which gives me more confidence in him. I plan on ordering the book too. The Budesonide seems to help although I wish it was more effective! It just helps to know others are working towards remission or have arrived.
Thanks so much for your responses.
