I'm still at the ER. Apparently the urgent care doctor was right And the radiologist was wrong. I do have a fractured vertebra. I am still at the ER Waiting for Someone to come and fit me for a back brace. It's no wonder I was in such pain. And given the MC I cant take any real pain killer. All I want to do is go home and cuddle my licorice
Finally, some progress.
Thanks for the update, and I hope that the brace will help to reduce the pain.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
It's very scary that the radiologist goofed up big time. I was so angry that the UC doc had frightened the hell out of me. Now I know that the woman knew of what she spoke. I am glad I went to the ER, and wish I had gone there in the first place.
I KNEW there was something really wrong when I felt increasing sensory problems in my leg and foot.
I didn't take enough food foe all these hours. I have learned my lesson. Never leave home without TWO pork chops in your purse!
This brace is hot and uncomfortable, but I have to wear it. Oh well....

Wow Lesley. So glad that you found a reason for the pain and hopefully you can go home soon!Lesley wrote:I'm still at the ER. Nope. I have enough trouble sleeping. I can have it off, though it makes me nervous since I get up all the time to pee.
It's even scarier that the radiologist said there are only minor changes in my spine, my pelvis and my hips when I apparently have well developed osteoporosis, just as the UC doctor said.
It doesn't help the pain much, but I feel much more confident wearing it. I hope the fracture heals fast. I am booked to go to Israel at the end of November.

I don't know if this is relevant, Lesley. After my spinal fusion I had to wear a steel, hard plastic and Velcro custom brace for 3 months. Most importantly, the first week or so I had to put it on when I got up during the night to go to the bathroom. That time period was crucial to the healing process. It might not be a bad idea to put the brace on when you get up during the night. You've fallen so often, there is the possibility of falling when you are half awake.
If it is difficult to get into, put it on the way a firefighter puts on a pack or a diver flips his tanks from front to back. That tip helped me so much getting into the damn thing in the middle of the night. The brace is so important for you now, to heal and to keep things in place

Thanks Shar!
Sheila, I have taken to wearing it to bed. I find I am actually more comfortable. My walker is by my bed so I don't forget to use it. I am wearing it all the time except when I go in the pool or the shower.
I am SO thankful it's no longer so hot, but still warm enough. The thing is so big and heavy. I can only wear the loosest of sundresses over it. Nothing else fits. I only have 2 loose enough, so I am going to have to wash them out tomorrow.
I am going to keep on using the walker for safety, even when this heals.

Wearing the brace to bed is an excellent idea as long as you can tolerate it. I wore my brace over my clothes. It was much too bulky, literally a huge vest that I had to put my arms through. I've worn smaller braces over my clothes and the braces worked just as well that way. They aren't a fashion statement for sure. Glad to hear you're doing better.
