kidney pain?

Post by Leah »

For the past few days, I think I am getting kidney pain. When I eat, it gets worse though. Can this be digestive even though the pain is my mid/lower right back ? I am hoping it is a kidney stone that needs to pass ??????? How long do I let it go on before I see the doc?

I'm so sorry, Leah. Do you have any other symptoms? Kidney stones can be serious and I think I'd see a doctor. Hope you feel better.

Leah,

Do you eat a lot of high-oxlate foods? If so, a kidney stone is certainly a possibility.

Passing one is usually not exactly a walk in the park, so I agree that it might be a good idea to check with your doctor, especially if you are passing any blood.

If the pain is up just under the rib cage, and it kicks in soon after eating (especially after a meal that includes fat), and then fades away after 5 or 6 hours, it could be a gallbladder problem.

Leah, get your husband to make a fist and give you a thump at kidney level using the side of the fist (not knuckles) on each side. If it is kidneys it will hurt like hell. Of course this is NOT definitive. Go see a doctor.

I would go see a doctor. My father is still in the hospital after 5 weeks on life support due to a kidney stone. I wouldn't hesitate.
