I went to the pain clinic yesterday, and met with a new doctor. Very nice.
He showed me my MRI. Mess on the left side where the previous herniated disk was(L4-5) and where they did the 2 surgeries. New herniated disc on the right side (L4-5) and fractured L5 vertebra. He said he had never seen anyone with this level of damage no using any pain pills. I assured him I am not being tough, nor am I unaware of the damage that pain itself can do. Its the bloody MC! He knew nothing of this and assured me many of his patients have colitis and are on Norco. Can he tell me if their Norco, or their PPIs or anything else is causing their colitis? OF COURSE NOT! Displace one pain and cause another. A permanent one.
He put me on a short course of prednisone. I agreed to the short course to reduce the swelling, and will have an epidural in a month if I am still in pain.
Pain is exhausting. A different kind of exhaustion. Combo of the 2 made me feel as though I was dying last night.
And some more....

I have taken Percocet since diagnosed with MC with no additional problems. If anything, C would be an issue, not D. I'm aware that C is a problem for you. What is it about pain meds that causes your problems? I just had arthroplasty/removal of the trapezius bone/tendon graft on my right hand and wouldn't have slept for the first few days without pain meds. Chronic pain is debilitating and a source of severe stress, damaging the immune system. I feel so bad for you, suffering without relief.

Leslie, I cringe and ache just reading your post. Good grief that's a lot of trauma your back has had. I'm sorry that you are going through that. What can be done about the fracture? Will it heal if it doesn't have any more trauma? At least the epidural will probably bring relief. I wish I had something great to say other than I'm sorry.
