That's not too surprising. Not only would it be very risky for him to recommend ordering drugs from overseas, but on an MD's income, he can afford the domestic prices. LOL. Besides, he could surely cut a deal with a rep.

And I have a hunch that your fears about CIGNA and Advantage-Plus Meridian kicking Entocort into the tier 5 category somewhere down the line are well justified. Imagine what will happen if/when the word gets around, and they are flooded with new clients who select them solely on the basis of their Entocort prices. Eventually it will dawn on them that they are leaving way too much money on the table.

That's very generous of you, Lesley. I'm sure the recipients appreciate having the Entocort.

I finally called my GI's office today to see if they'll give me a script. I talked to his nurse and told her about the exorbitant price beginning next year. She had no idea and said that they seldom get samples for GI drugs anymore to give to patients. She mentioned that all GI drugs seemed to be priced very high.

She said that she would mail the prescription to me (yea!) Then she checked my chart and said I hadn't seen the doctor since February 2012. Well, that happens when there's no tangible benefit from the visit. :banghead:

She wanted to know how I've managed to do without a script for 1 1/2 years. I told her I wait until the end of the year to fill the prescription to see how many pills I can get before I end up in the donut hole. I said I have some left that I use and I also use Imodium. She seemed to accept that explanation.

So, I have an appointment in 4 weeks. It will probably be another visit where he tries to convince me that I need another colonoscopy and I use my logic to convince him I don't.

Do you have a copay for your visit? How much does he get? Why, otherwise, would he make an appointment to see you when he knows as well as you do that there is nothing he can, or is going to do?

Whatever happens, you will win!

Oh, and BTW - I don't consider it generous. I can't use them. Someone else can. I truly believe if we help each other things will happen.
