Christmas cards
All- I am beginning to wonder why I am holding on to this tradition of sending out Christmas cards. I don't send anything else by mail so why this? I can't tell you the last time I sent a letter to someone. These days we all communicate by cell or email. I like RECEIVING Christmas cards of course, and I use them sort of as decoration. But I loath buying the cards, writing them out, getting the stamps, taking them to the post office yada yada yada. Not to mention the expense. So why do we do it?

Hi Melissa,
I know what you mean. I quit sending them 3 years ago. Now I just send maybe 10 to very special people and I hand-pick the cards. It really simplifies my life. The holiday season is much too hectic to begin with to add tasks that feel like chores. Of course, for those who enjoy writing cards, that's different. And I do like receiving them too.
Love,
Polly
P.S. Did I miss something? I haven't seen anything about your kitty.

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.
Polly,
I think this is going to be my last year doing the card thing. Frankly, I'd rather give the money to charity. I already started doing that some years ago instead of presents.
My cat, Gracie, is doing better. She did not tolerate the first antibiotic they gave her -- foamed at the mouth like she was having a seizure--so I got some new stuff. They'll run another urine analysis in about 4 days to see if it's done its job. Even though she hated the other cat, I think in her way she misses her. I know I certainly do. Thanks for asking.

I'm like you Melissa in that I use the cards I receive as decorations. I don't do a tree, but love to hang all my cards around the dining room using string and little silver clothes pegs that I hand painted. Sending cards can be expensive, but I enjoy doing it...the only thing is I send so many I don't devote the time I should to write more in them (maybe when I'm retired I'll have the time )

When my grandmother first moved into my parent's house after her strokes, that first year, she received 200 cards! Talk about stressing my Mom out! She had to do all the cards, plus her own!
I've gotten away from them too...but do use those I receive as decor. I like to write, but I don't like not getting in return (selfish I suppose). And most of my friends are so busy with their families, they don't even have time to email much. We do live in a busy world.

Morning All,
Last year I did not do cards because of the moving thing but this year I am back at it. I send only to special people but it is something that goes with tradition and I am stuck in the tradition mode. My mother used to send over 300 cards. I am at about 40.
Love, Maggie

Hi everyone,
I'm not sending any cards this year either. Except to ill or old people. I enjoy writing notes and letters, but not this year.
My husband will probably still send a letter to his family and friends. I love to receive cards, but have too much on my plate this year to send them. Hope everyone understands.
Love,
Alice

FITTING INTO THE SAME THING
Hiya ladies and gents--
I have kinda gotten away from card sending also----for years I sat and wrote out all these cards/etc.--use to start right after Turkey Day---
Then when I send to my kids and grandkids, I say---*Let me send one to Larry, Moe and Curly too*
It is fun to receive --- I enjoy that---
For me I think its partly being lazy about it----so a warm *HAPPY HOLIDAY* is nice to say---when I see friends--
luv, Barbara
