Because I have been puzzling over the blood work results and trying to find things out on the internet as to what each thing means, I waited to post here. For one thing, do to a mishap with my well being several years ago my liver was damaged, so that maybe what has led to other things, but it is hard to get detailed information from my doctor. If I don't know the exact questions to ask, she never volunteers anything to me. But perhaps Polly you may be able to understand some of this. First of all I knew that my cholesterol was not going to be good, it never is, I never had any trouble with it prior, it was always perfect. The same month they informed me that my liver was damaged, my total cholesterol was around 800. I know bad. Since then I also have also found out I have gallstones, most likely from the cholesterol. Also have several polyps growing on my gallbladder. And even though I have had poor readings before no doctor ever explained what the test was so I had no idea what they were. And they are not that high, just over normal, my ast reading is 40 normal is under 31, my alt is 38, normal is under 36. In my urinalysis the S.G. was a little over, don't know what it means. My urate is always low, has been as low as 40, it is now 114, and normal range is 140 - 340. Cholesterol is 5.52, normal range is under 5.20. Triglycerides 3.99 normal is under 2.30. So that part is not good, it runs in our family, but I don't have a liver that is pulling its weight. Hematocrit is .46, no biggy, normal is up to 45. Lymphocytes 3.78, which is actually better then usual, as normal is up to 3.20, and it has been elevated for years now, but not any biggy either. She was mostly concerned about my Vit D results, which put me at 35, which they say is insufficient if it is under 50.
And once again the ANA was negative, so was the RH factor. NOT that I wanted them to be positive, but a couple of years ago my RH factor was positive, and over a year the test was repeated several times and came back positive. But when I moved, all the history and reports were lost, and so its like you feel that you are lying, if they don't have the same test results. And with having other illnesses that are questioned by some doctors it feels like I'm whining for no reason. And of course my family doctor doesn't think anything about CC being anything more then a bit of the runs now and again. But from what I have been reading some of all these things could be from the CC. It is just allot to understand, and right now I am reading about the caveman diet, and it all seems so overwhelming to me. But it could be that my body is telling me something, and perhaps forcing me to change my eating habits. I think too that I am a little ticked at it too. LOL And yup still got a fever, low, but one minute I am hot and then the next I am cold, and dripping wet as well.
Well enough of the heavies for now, right???
And to all a Good Night and Gentle Hugs
Wendy

Hi Wendy!
Actually, on the whole your blood work looks OK to me. Apparently we use different measures than you do in Canada, but most of your elevated values are not much over the upper limit of normal. The one most out of whack is the triglycerides, but you know that you have a familial problem with that. I've never seen cholesterol measured with a normal range of under 5.20. Usually it's in the hundreds........and you did have a value of 800 once, which may have been due to the liver damage present at that time. Did they do the HDL and LDL cholesterols?
An elevated urine specific gravity means that your urine is concentrated, usually because you are a little dehydrated. It is a GOOD thing for the kidneys to be able to concentrate the urine well, actually. The elevated lymphocytes can be present in a chronic infection/inflammation, so that could be due to the CC. The hematocrit (red blood count) is perfect, so you must be absorbing plenty of iron.
That's good news about the negative ANA and Rh factor!!! Do you take a multivitamin every day? That's an easy way to get vitamin D - it's necessary to supplement it if you live in Canada - not enough sunshine this time of year for the body to make its own vitamin D.
So you are reading about the caveman diet! If you have any questions, just ask away. Quite a few of us have used some or all of this diet to regain our health, so there is a lot of good experience if you are interested.
You and I seem to be the only two who have had fever as a major symptom of MC. It's really annoying, isn't it? And a fever increases your fluid needs, so you really have to pay attention to that and be sure to drink enough.
Sweet dreams!
