Cabbage juice for inflammation?

Post by mcnomore »

I've been reading about people who have been juicing cabbage and had remarkable success in going into remission. These are mainly people with other types of colitis however.

Has anyone any feedback about this idea?

Cabbage Juice

Post by DJ »

I don't know what level of intestinal health you are experiencing at this time but I was diagnosed in June after a few months of horrible d and am currently reducing my dose of Entocort. I had tried Indian turmeric "milk" made with rice milk, hoping to benefit from its anti-inflammatory properties. It gave me my first case of real d in a while but I bounced back quickly. With my recent experience and my early stage of recovery, I would not try cabbage juice yet.

Hi, An old recipe a grandfather used when he felt like he needed to clean out his colon was to drink the water left over after boiling cabbage. Cabbage is high in sodium just like the colonoscopy prep drinks. An interesting question arises after a treatment is it the best time to take a high number of probiotics? When, you read about the "poop pill" the first treatment is with antibiotics to wipe out the bacteria and then 25 to 30 capsules of the poop pill with is nothing but the bacteria from BM. Jon

JLH, thanks for that link, it's the post that made me consider cabbage juice, but I couldn't find it again. It's scary, because some say it will clean you out (D) and others say it stops the D.

It may depend on the fiber. My husband juices cabbage when his ulcer flares up, but uses a juicer that captures the fiber.
