I think that reactions to mct's is very much dose related so that the small amount in a supplement shouldn't be a problem, but I'm no expert and my opinion is really off the top of my head.

That's what I thought. Maybe someone can chime in on this one. Do you take Vit. D?

I used to take Carlson Liquid D3 which also has MCT. Now I take Now Foods D3 softgels which has gelatin capsules. I don't eat beef but the capsules don't seem to bother me.

So, I need to decide on trying gelatin (beef) vs. MCT (reactions)?? I hesitate because I have spent so much money on foods and supplements that, it turns out, I can't eat....I'm weary of purchasing something else...but I know I need D3.

So, liquid or softgel is the question..... :help:

:sigh:

Hi Linda,

FWIW, I agree with Jean that the Pure Encapsulations D3 supplement should be worth a try.

Do you have problems with coconut oil or palm kernel oil?

Hello Tex,

I don't use palm kernel oil, so I don't know if it is a problem. I use sunflower seed oil because coconut oil is high in salicylic acid (which was yellow for me on MRT). That said I do eat coconut cookies without an issue, so coconut oil must be ok for me.

Are you referring to the liquid Pure Encapsulations w/MCT, as something worth trying? Why would they add MCT to it?

I don't think there's anything added to Freeda Vitamin's vitamin D3. Both Polly and I take it, and we both are extremely sensitive. http://www.freedavitamins.com/index.php ... 0&parent=4

They do contain cellulose. I don't know if that presents a problem for you.

"Yes", to the first question, and, "Probably to act as a carrier to increase the absorptivity of the vitamin D", to the second question.

Coconut Secret makes aminos (soy sauce substitute) and vinegar out of coconut, that give a little diversity when cooking. I also found this bar, too.

http://www.amazon.com/Coconut-Secret-Cl ... _sim_gro_1

Made from Coconut, real chocolate coating (cocoa mass, cocoa butter, coconut crystals), coconut oil, coconut nectar, vanilla extract, sunflower lecithin. Certified organic. (Please check the ingredients before use. If in doubt please talk to your health professional before use.

Gloria,

Does cellulose create a problem that you know of? I will check out Freeda, too. Thanks!

I don't know. I'm not aware of anyone on the board having problems with it. It hasn't seemed to bother me or Polly.

Gloria,

The Freeda supplements don't say that they don't contain soy...I'm suspicious.....

You can write them and ask. They told me that the Geri-Freeda multiple vitamin contained a miniscule amount of soy in the vitamin E. I think anything with vitamin E contains soy. I just switched to their multi that doesn't contain vitamin E or vitamin A, but I noticed that the label doesn't mention that there's no soy in the vitamin. I probably should write them again to be sure.

I'd be surprised if the vitamin D3 contains soy, but it's better to ask and find out. Be sure to let us know what their response was if you write.

I've emailed Freeda twice with no response.

Hmmm. I received a reply from them when I wrote about the source of their vitamin E. Maybe a phone call would be better? I'm not home right now, so I'm limited with what I can do.
