Question regarding remission

I have a question, that has bugged me ever since my diagnosis with CC in 2005. I spontaneously go into remission after a period of time flaring up. It is really bizarre because I change nothing that I do. I have had flares last weeks, months or years. I have had differing degrees of inappetence, food aversions etc. I have had this particular flare for months, have a colonoscopy scheduled for November, the docs are checking my poop for everything under the sun and also ran some bloodwork for celiac. Other than pooping 30 times a day, my energy level is good. I just can't wrap my head around why all of a sudden one day the diarrhea is gone and poop goes back to normal. Thanks for all your input!! Hi Sandra,

All IBDs are capable of going into spontaneous remission at any time, for unknown reasons. And spontaneous remission can end at any time, for no known reason. It seems that people who have MC don't enjoy anywhere near the probability of having periods of spontaneous remission as people who have the other IBDs. And true to that trend, very few members of this board are lucky enough to enjoy periods of spontaneous remission. You are one of the lucky ones, apparently.

That's why most of us follow a rigid diet and whatever other measures are needed (such as a maintenance medication in some cases) at all times, in order to maintain remission (because we're not so lucky, and we prefer to remain in remission at all times).

IOW, your reaction pattern is typical of IBDs in general.
