Long Term Entocort?

ok perfect I think I can handle just chicken, beef, bison, green beans and carrots for 3 days. If during those 3 days I still have loose BM's then that will mean it is something in those foods bothering me right? Then what do I do?
I really really really hate to give up yogurt but I think that may be part of the problem along with those macademia nut butter muffins. what about maple syrup?? I use that in my muffins and yogurt. what else has casein in it that I should be avoiding for those 3 days?? I guess no more cooking my green beans in butter then either :(
How do you all cook without butter!!

Yes. In that case you would avoid the chicken for a few days, and if that doesn't work, try avoiding the beef and bison for a few days (avoid both, because bison contains domestic cattle DNA).

Any ingredient that includes the word "caseinate", "lactose", or lacto-anything.

Most of us use olive oil, canola oil, or bacon grease, but you can also use water for cooking green beans. Some members use broth to season things such as green beans or potatoes, to add more flavor. Just be sure the broth is safe for you, if you use it.

I have been a long term user of Entocort on and off for about 8 years. the maintenance dose is 3 mg.
the gastroenterologist sent me for a bone scan as this could be a side effect of long term use. so far I have not had any issues. I can get off of it for up to two years and then have a flare. For me it has been helpful.

It's not too bad of a transition...... I use coconut oil too. Nothing tastes the same as butter but once you know it bothers you, it's easier to give up. I still use butter for the rest of my family because margarine is down right scary. I love the smell of it in the pan but when I look at it, it triggers a memory of a belly ache. Not so hard to avoid then.

Me too, coconut oil on my well cooked veggies. I used to follow SCD and bought cultured butter and made homemade yogurt every week. As Deb says, its not hard to give stuff up when you realize it is making you sick. Turns out the dairy and eggs on SCD were doing me in. I make homemade macadamia nut butter. I no longer bake.

how do you make macademia nut butter - I used to buy it premade but they are not selling anymore. And to buy a whole bunch of macademia nuts to turn into butter will cost me a fortune. what do you make and use it for Jean? I am wondering if it is the yogurt that is doing me in :) so depressed if it is UGH!! I eat it 3 x a day. This morning I just ate chicken for breaky - made me nauseas but have had no diarrhea or BM which I would always have right after my yogurt every morning and go 3 to 4 times within 1 1/2 hours. Have no idea what to eat for breaky now!!!

I take macadamia nuts and put them in the food processor, grind them up and add a little macadamia nut oil. It is expensive but there is so much that I don't eat or spend money on that it works out. I just eat it by the spoonful. One of the ways to handle these diet changes are to try to erase all you ever learned about what constitutes a "normal" or even "healthy" diet. For me breakfast, lunch and dinner look the same, meat and a veggie or meat and some kind of berry (although no berries early on). My meats are almost entirely ground meat (grass fed, nothing factory farmed) . I used to eat at least a cup of yogurt every day and I really loved the stuff but I would rather feel good so good-bye yogurt. I used to have eggs for breakfast but good-bye eggs if it helps me feel better. For me not living in the bathroom is enough of a reward to make any diet change doable. Success with this depends so much on attitude and that is something that can be cultivated. What I try to do is feel grateful for this forum and the fact that it has helped me figure out how to eat and regain my health rather than feel deprived of all those things I no longer eat. Looked at that way, far from being depressing it's really quite uplifting. Just think how great you will feel when you don't have to live your life close enough to make it to the nearest bathroom on time.

Hi jean - can you tell me what you eat daily? I can't imagine eating chicken for breakfast, lunch and supper every day!! what veggies do you eat? any sweet potatoes or any carbs? fruit?

I just ate only chicken for breaky and chicken for lunch and still have had no BM today at all. interesting. but I am starving for carbs and yogurt. what do you eat for a snack? Have you made macademia nut butter muffins or cookies or anything???
how do you travel or even go out anywhere?
Any egg replacement ideas?
How long jean have you been eating like this????

I eat protein with every meal, either ground lamb, ground pork or wild caught cod. Veggies I eat are kale (usually kale chips), swiss chard, broccoli, bok choy or brussel sprouts. I use coconut oil on the veggies (olive oil to make kale chips). Only fruit I eat is blueberries. For snacks I eat either a spoonful of nut butter (macadamia, almond, sunflower seed) or some turkey jerky made from just turkey and salt. I also make bone broth (turkey, lamb or pork) and have some every day. I don't bake. I used to make almond bread but when I gave up eggs I decided to give up baking. Just find it easier. I try to eat low carb so no starchy vegetable but I know a lot of people here eat sweet potatoes and carrots. I have been fiddling with diet for about a decade but until finding this forum 18 months ago I was eating paleo accept for my SCD yogurt and some cheese. I have been eating this way for 18 months. I can't eat chicken or beef. Turkey jerky is a good take with me kind of food. I don't travel much and when I do I bring mostly my own food. I am willing to do whatever it takes to keep from being sick, which was even more restricting than this diet.
