All the way to 9?
I was tapering per the MD orders from Entocort. I have been on it for about 6 months. I did well up until every other day and now... I am not. I started to take 3 mg daily again but not sure if I should go straight to 9? I realize I need to look at my foods again although I think I have done pretty good but? I had to use a mouth rinse that caused thrush and I ended up taking diflucan for 5 days, then I got pretty sick, then I had a scoop of peanut butter and viola watery fun. It could also be that the green beans that were crunchy not super soft. I just don't know. I can eliminate all my supplements ... Should I try to add pepto for a bit? Elavil or Effexor can be risky right? Trying to keep motivated and could use any positive, hopeful advice. I didn't want to be on Entocort forever but I remember now why I ended up taking it. I have been going to acupuncture and God bless her she's trying, practically did a smoking chant today to try and help. I also don't know if the MD will give me more Entocort as I only have 20 left but an appointment next week.
Oh... And stress well for now I just don't know I can change some of it.... I have changed some but not all.
Thanks in advance...

I'd be suspicious of legumes since you reacted to both green beans and peanut butter. The tapering from one Entocort to none is usually the trickiest because Entocort has masked reactions up until now.
I am tapering very slowly now so that I can stop flares in their tracks by eliminating offending foods. By catching the problem early, I can stay on a 3mg dose of Entocort per day without having to go to 9mg for control. Every other time I've tapered, I've needed the full 9mg to regain control.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
I have not reacted to green beans before and I was just thinking that they were undercooked but I will have to rethink them - I don't eat any other beans/legumes that I can recall. I don't think I will even test peanut butter again. I have been going back in my journal trying to see all clues. When you went up to 9mg did you have to stay there a long time to regain control? I guess I will try the 3mg for now and I will have to wait and see if the MD will reorder for me.

Well when it comes to green beans I cut them out ages ago but was in a situation this past weekend where the only vegetable offered was green beans and boy eating them was a mistake. Back they go to no eating again.
Hope you solve the problem.

I'm right about where you are concerning the Entocort journey. I recently ate lightly cooked green beans and it didn't go well. I pulled back on my diet for a few days and things improved. By pulling back, I mean lots of meat and some well cooked safe veggies, rice, sweet potatoes, and rice milk. I am not ready for lightly cooked veggies. I also know that peanut butter would go very poorly for me.Thumbs wrote:I was tapering per the MD orders from Entocort. I have been on it for about 6 months. I would not increase Entocort before trying to pull back on what you eat for several days.
I am now on 3 mg of Entocort and teetering carefully. When I over do it with fruits and veggies, I have more frequent, looser, gassier BMs with the "classic" MC noises. My solution is to be more careful so that my healing will progress with the least amount of medication. Can you supplement with Pepto Bismol or Loperamide HCL? I just had a minor step spell myself. I took one Loperamide yesterday for the first time in a long time and I feel like I'm getting back on track already.
I will buckle down! It was a rough day on the loo yesterday so I hope buckling down will be enough. I will add green beans to my no list as maybe they were the straw on that careful balance.
Every time I get sick/set back my family looses their mind, they all go bonkers - I try to let them know I can't help running to the restroom and I am sorry it takes away time from helping with home work or the most current issue. But then they call their dad and let him know im not helping or that her sisters hormonal. So when he gets home he asks me why I can't just wait he's busy working and know he gets home when its done. Really?! He gets home at 9 most nights. I am so frustrated with it all - this journey sucks enough all by itself it doesn't need booing from the bleachers. No need to respond just hoping a vent will give me a clear start for today - it is a new one after all.

When you went up to 9mg did you have to stay there a long time to regain control?
I only had to take 9 mg. for a few days to regain control the first few times I went off Entocort.
The last time I went off Entocort, however, I took 9 mg. for 4 months without seeing Normans. I finally decided to begin taking Imodium along with it and within days I was able to reduce to 6 mg.
Each time I've reduced Entocort I've had to eliminate additional foods.
