Juicing

Post by Nancy »

Has anyone used juicing as an effective means of healing? Some of those authors sound like it can cure auto immune problems.

The more I read I am now suspecting the juicing is helping folks with auto immune problems during their juice fasts is because they are eliminating the offending foods but they attribute the cure to juicing instead of to the elimination of problem foods.

Hi Nancy,

I have a hunch that you are probably right. Over the years, we have seen quite a few members who get caught up in juicing and post enthusiastically about it's benefits, but after a while they seem to lose interest and move on to the "next big thing". So far at least, no one has posted that they managed to accomplish long-term control of their MC symptoms by juicing alone.

My own view of the concept is that juices can provide a healthy source of vitamins and minerals (as part of a treatment program), but juicing is not an effective way to control MC or any other IBD (or any other autoimmune-type disease, for that matter). Even the basic logic of using a liquid diet to control a disease that is marked by watery diarrhea seems rather counterintuitive.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Nancy,
my daughter has gluten issues, and ulcerative colitis and she tried juicing and a raw foods diet for almost a year. It seemed to help at first, but gradually her symptoms returned and were even worse. She would not recommend it anymore. Those who promote it seem like evangelists and people who are desperate for help believe what they teach & buy their books & read their blogs ...get criticized for not doing it right and that explains away the relapses.

Hi, There are many juicing recipes that are available. A desired result can be obtained by juicing different fruits and vegetables with a boost. All the ingredients used in juicing contain trace elements. If you drink the same drink every day you may upset the balance of trace elements. Jon
