Prevacid
Ok, I have taken Prevacid for YEARS??????
I have gastric reflux and a hiatus hernia. I would die without something!
If this is known to cause MC, what can I take? I need to talk to my doctor about this, soon!
Never connected, although I know I've read it before on the posts. Bummer!

Hi I also Have a Hiatel hernia and reflux, I take over the counter prilosec once a day, and I drink green tea after I eat. Believe it or not, if I have the slightest heartburn, it'd gone by the time I finish the tea. I put honey in the tea sometimes. Green tea has many uses besides drinking it also. It will draw infection like a poltice , and I have used it to take puffiness from under the eyes. Love Oma The herb Lady

I know I'm being dificult but I don't like green tea and OTC doesn't cut it! I tried that and I have breakthrough reflux. (Bummer) I noticed that I talked to Elvis on the big white telephone (funny, huh) when taking OTC.
Back to square one...........
I love ya Oma for your suggestion though!
BTW - Prilosec didn't work either, I took it for a while first.

Sure was! Sorry, didn't mean for it to sound so grouchy! Maybe someone else could try that, might work for them.
Maybe I can drink the tea by plugging my nose! hahahhaha I might give it a try again. My mom drank the tea when she was diagnosed with Cancer. She heard it was good for her.
Does it have soothing properties also? A "chill pill?", per se? lol

Oh Mars Bar!
As Rosann Rosannadanna said......"It's always SOMETHING"
Prevacid, Prilosec, and Nexium are all proton-pump inhibitors and therefore not good for MC. There is a group of meds called H2 blockers that might be better for you. These include Pepcid AC, Zantac, and Axid.
Although these H2 blockers are OTC, I think they are also available in prescription strength. It will be interesting to see what your doc thinks.
Love,
Polly

About the greentea, Mars
Have you ever tried the mint version?
I like the decaff mint-flavored green tea that Celestial Seasonings puts out. I've even found it at Walmart..on sale yet! I feel like it's one of the safer ones as it's one of the few common store brands that WF's stores sell, possibly because they don't use a harsh solvent to remove the caffeine. In this particular tea, I like it BETTER without the caffeine, by the way.
In the past, I'd tried green teas that I could hardly choke down, but this one does seem to be soothing.
It also gives you something to sit and sip in place of dessert if you're in the habit of having dessert after dinner. The warmth in the tummy makes me feel satisfied.
I don't add sweetner, so you're on your own with that. Sometimes after I nuke the water, then throw the teabag in and let it seep, I'll pour the tea over some ice in a glass and enjoy some iced tea. This is a really quick way to do iced green tea, by the way.
Another advantage according to some, is that green tea isn't fermented as are black teas (like Earl Grey) and other teas. Also, it's loaded with stuff that's good for you.
Hope you get some relief soon that won't bother the M.C., Mars.
Yours, Luce
