This is a good article on gut histamine issues.

Have you been listening to any of the Gluten Summit? It is very interesting.

Wow! Thanx for this! I have been so frustrated not getting over the big D... I follow the GAPS protocol which recommends bone broth... I have it every meal as recommended, make my own bone broth...
This article mentioned that some of the foods people who avoid grains can give intestinal probs .....even bone broth is not good if histamine sensitive!,, whaaaaat?
Oh, my goodness! I have lived on this 3 meals a day for 4 months! Is this the answer... Histamine so after all? Wow... Thanx again....

Bone broth
Oh MY!!
I have been living on soup which I make myself too, with "safe" foods. Except now maybe that isn't safe either.
But perhaps this is why I have not had results from all the things I have done, and why the medications haven't made much difference either. The watery d continues...
So can anyone give me ideas of what to eat??? Do you buy the vegetable broth, Linda?
And if I have potatoes left over and I put them in the fridge to fry up later, does the histamine count keep going up on them (vegetables) as well? Or is it unique to meat and protein sources?
The layers of this are incredible!!

Darla,
This is strictly my opinion, but I believe that the buildup of histamines in food is due to the formation/growth of mold/fungus (even though it is usually invisible), and that is why meat (especially fish and poultry) are much more prone to growing mold (and therefore developing a histamine buildup) than vegetables. IOW, histamines are a byproduct of the development of molds and fungi. I would suspect that this would also imply that fruits would be much more prone to the development of histamines than vegetables, because all the sugar in most fruits makes them a popular target of molds/fungi.
IMO, potatoes would carry a relatively low risk of histamine buildup under refrigeration, unless they were stored there for a very long period of time.

Darla,
It might be worth a try to avoid bone broth for a while and see what happens.
I buy an organic vegetable broth, and use it on turkey and venison. I seem to tolerate it well, but I don't ingest a lot of it....I don't make soup, just use some to keep the meat from dryness.
Yes, the histamine level for foods that are refrigerated continues to elevate. I freeze everything after it is cooked, and heat it for another meal...both meats and veggies!
It is an incredibly complex & unique disease. Hang in there and don't go....

Thank you to all for your suggestions. Tex, I have been rereading your book and that has been helpful the second time around as well as the first. If anyone had told me 6 months ago that I would change my dietary lifestyle (and really my whole lifestyle) to the extent that I have, I would have not believed it possible. Wrapping my head around all this has definitely been a process. And not one I would have chosen. I just keep reading on this forum that it is still possible to not have uncontrollable watery d the rest of my life, and keep on eliminating one thing at a time!!

Monique,
Unfortunately, there's no direct way to attach any type of file to a post. When I originally set up this discussion board, I considered adding the code that would allow the attachment of files, but at least back then, all such code made the entire board very vulnerable to hackers (and I doubt that it would be much safer now), so I decided against it.
That said, there's an indirect way to do it. It's possible to convert the file to a JPG file, and add it to a post by clicking on the "Add Image to Post" link located just below the message-composing window when you're posting a new topic. That way the file is stored at a remote server.
I'm not aware of a direct software conversion from PDF to JPG, though, so you would probably have to print out the PDF file, then scan it into a digital file as a JPG file, so that it could be hosted as an image file.
If the PDF file contains only text, the most practical way to post it would be to simply copy and past the text into a post.

Tex,
thanks for your answer but I think I am going to skip trying to figure out how to do it. I wanted to add a file in my answer without having to start a new topic and adding an image to it. Besides this pdf file I have has several pages...
