Tips for juicing?

Post by JenniferS »

I've shared on some other posts, I'm really struggling, and it appears, my rice and meat diet might have caught up with me as my pancreas is very inflamed. I want to start juicing. This has been confusing and difficult as I seem to react to fructose, and I've been told some foods are high in histamines, etc. So I'd love help. :)

I'd like to start with one veggie, then maybe a week later, add another, etc. Until maybe, one day, I can start eating these purreed. :)

So, what one veggie should I start with? Then what one might be a good second?

thanks, all!

I started with carrot juice and only drank a 4 ounce glass a day, now I make carrot, orange, ginger juice and am okay with it. We are all different though so add one juice at a time and see how it goes. I kept a food log for a long time.

JenniferS, can you explain why your diet inflamed your pancreas because I am eating a similar diet so need to know what to watch out for. Thanks

I like carrot and celery or carrot and cilantro. I sometimes put a piece of apple in and a squirt of lemon. If you do drink carrot, I would do as Cory says and start small because it can have a loosening effect if you drink too much. Sorry to hear about your pancreas. I worry about all the meat I'm eating but hopefully I can get through another year or so like this.

Thank you, ladies. For some reason, I thought carrots were high in fructose? My dad said start with kale?

Mcnomore, I'm not certain, but I have been on largely meat, rice, olive oil, and potatoes for over a year. (I eat a looooot of olive oil, largely for the calories as I'm still pretty thin--well, and I like it. (And dropping, thanks to this recent hiccup.) And when I read the risk factors for pancreatitis, it is a high fat, low veggie diet. Although maybe I had the pancreatitis before and that was one of the reasons I couldn't knock out the diarrhea.

My suggestion, when you begin to get pain in the stomach area and when it seems to grow worse, not better, and when you have chronic nausea, don't wait it out. Maybe try an acid blocker for a day or two to see if that's the cause, but I waited too long thinking this was acid and now can't eat at all. (And haven't for two days, except a small amount earlier that I really regret.) Nov. 4th, it was very tender to the touch. I should've paid more attention. (I believe the standard treatment is fasting)

Someone told me later--probably Tex :) to try eating something fatty, so I ate a spoonful of peanutbutter, and oh, wow, that night I was in extreme pain and the next morning, so ill, I truly can't explain how ill I felt. Now I'm wondering if I've had this before as in August, I got crazy sick and had it coming from both ends. I thought it was my vertigo, but now I'm wondering if the pancreas issues are causing the vertigo.

Thanks Jennifer, I discovered that I can't tolerate much fat at all, so I eat only lean meat, but no fat anywhere else and improved greatly.

I was eating a lot of butter and kept having D with terrible dizziness, which got better when I had to go dairy free. Then I switched to ghee, but got worse again. That's when it occurred to me that it was the fat.

I don't eat vegies yet, but did buy a juicer recently so that I will be ready when I have been normal for awhile.

I have a recipe for banana bread with only salt, bicarb of soda, water, bananas, millet flour, and tapioca flour if you want it.

Hope you feel better soon.
